Dear Hijabi Slayer,

How are you? I pray for ALlah’s mercy upon you as well as His guidance. I have been meaning to send you a letter for a while but, I do not mean to ‘offend’ you. Then, I thought, what if death comes, is it not better to ‘offend’ you with the truth for the sake of ALlah taking into cognizance the words of ALlah where He (The exalted said);

1. “By Time”,
2. “Surely man is in loss,”
3. “Save those who believe and do good deeds, and enjoin on each other truth, and enjoin on each other patience.” (Surah ‘Asr)

Oh! Hijabi Slayer, I understand the struggle in having to keep to faith and also impress the society. That desperation to stay in vogue, meet the standards of what the society wants yet attempt to keep the faith in matters where both the society and faith differ.

Know, may ALlah bless you, that, according to the dictionary, the hijab might have been defined as a head covering worn in public by some Muslim women, but this is misleading. According to the Sharee’ah, let us simply put that the Hijab is what modesty encompasses.

It is no Hijab even if one wears, on the head, a trailer load of clothing then complements it with exposed cleavages freely entertaining the public. Or how can we say we have seen someone in Niqab because the face is covered but is in a skimpy skirt?. Fixed eyelashes, long painted nails, tight-fitting trousers or skimpy skirts, exposed cleavages and because a piece of clothing is tied on the head, we say that is Hijab? You cannot ‘Aa’isha and at the same time, appear like Jezebel.

Dear Hijabi Slayer, I understand the confusion, but I will tell you, that, the commands of ALlah are superior to that of the society. The world itself is lost and is at lose and one way to be properly guided and free from this loss is to believe, do good deeds, and enjoin on each other truth and patience. Believe here means believing in ALlah (The Most Wise), submitting to His Will and holding unto His injunctions in all affairs against the norms and culture of the society.

I am not unaware that you may lose your followers on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I am not blind to the fact that you desperately need to give them what they want to satisfy their lust to gather likes, comments, and followership. However, I think it is important, sister, that, for a Muslim, aiming to please Allah is the priority. Indeed, ALlah will call us to account on that day when all secrets shall be exposed, man shall have no helper, no power, no saviour, the Fathers shall neglect Children, Wives will forget Husbands, on that day of higgdledy-piggledy, every man to his own fate. So, why not seek pleasure in pleasing Allah against fellow humans?

Dear Slayer, I understand that you are beautiful and you so much want to flaunt it. Know, may Allah guide you, that a blessing should not become a tool of destruction for you. Do not be among those who spread corruption on the surface of the earth.

Oh! Hijabi Slayer, I know that you have been covering your head, not because you understand the rulings guiding the Hijab. Let me benefit you, sister, with the conditions of Hijab by our honoured Scholar, Sheikh al-Albanee

Let me also remind you that the Hijab is not what you wear on Mondays and pull off on Tuesdays, adorn in Winter and neglect in Summer!

You may ask me not to judge you but we need to understand what it is to judge. I fear that, in our world of today, “don’t judge me” is used as an excuse to run away from advice, admonitions and live in a fool’s paradise. If you ask me not to judge you, I will say that this is not judging. Admonishing you to obey Allah is no judging, not even a condemnation of who you are. Within the context of this letter, saying being a Hijabi Slayer is bad is like calling a car a car, it is no judging but calling it what it is.

“Don’t judge me” doesn’t vindicate rather it proves that such person admits he/admits to the wrong but doesn’t want it to be talked about. Wrong is wrong and it will always be
wrong.

May Allah bless you and ease your submission to His will.
