Previous: Beware of Aboo Aamir

There are two groups of people who detest Salafiyyah. In the first group, we have those who are vehemently opposed to the Sunnah and see the creed as a threat to their innovations or some form of political affiliation. These are people who vilify Sheikh Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahhab. They never studied Salafiyyah. For the other group, their interaction with some who lay claim to Salafiyyah (without Salafs) led to their hatred for Salafiyah.

The Seer from Ede town is angry that I likened him to Jabata though he did not say he is directly the same with Jabata. The same person is desperately trying to label me as an Ikhwanee as a form of blackmail and ex-communication which he is used to and as a way to garner sympathy from those who uphold Salafiyyah. He wrote;

“So it was not surpassing when the likes of Ogunkoya and other Ikhwaanee guys liked his post about Aboo Aamir on Facebook.

Yes, he was being careful to abuse Salafiyyah. One thing from that is that Da’wah Salafiyyah has become a thorn in their flesh.”
The Seer said I was careful not to abuse Salafiyyah and that Da’wah Salafiyyah is a thorn in “their” flesh. I am challenging him and his minions to provide any of my works where I have written against Salafiyyah, they won’t find. In fact, it is a prerequisite for any volunteer for KnowIslam Project that their Islam is based on the Qur’an and Sunnah as understood by the pious predecessors. I will tell you why we defer and how his ex-communication is inconsequential.
Several times, I have written on the need to reclaim Salafiyyah from some exuberant and overzealous folks who, though, lay claim to Salafiyyah but their acts and ways are a disservice to the creed. Do you know that Jabata, the Chief ex-communicator would lay claim to Salafiyyah and say we only differ with him because we do not understand Islam enough? Those who know the Seer from Ede know him for his negative and destructive criticism, exuberance and extremism.
When Shariifah Yunus’ Niqab was yanked off, we were standing up for her and at the same time, dealing with people like the Seer who are not even Jabata. When Amasa Firdaus’ was not called to Bar, it was people like the seer from Ede who were attacking the Sister asking if what she had on was the Hijab and if the Hijab she said she wore matched the requirements of Hijab. They had argued that the campaign for Amasa Firdaus was meaningless since she was not forced to study law and what she wore wasn’t the Hijab. It is this attitude that led the Seer to vilify reverts to Islam, openly accusing them of bad recitation of the Qur’an and low understanding of Islam. We replied to him asking that he should openly criticize those who were born Muslims but have little or no understanding of Islam. This usual attitude led him to attack and dishonour that Niqabi sister who appeared in that BBC video.
I have said this that conscious Muslims should know that our difference is not who is a Salafi or who is not, rather, extremism and thuggery displayed in the name of Salafiyyah. Due to their actions, it has become very difficult to accept friend requests on Facebook from those who have Salafee or -wiyy as a prefix or suffix to their names. Note that it is a good act to have a Kunya but people like this Seer have caused lots of damage.
Truthfully, I was emotional about the first article I wrote against the Seer who reads people’s intentions and can accuse them of lies even after clarifications. I trashed that article and wrote another to show that I do not encourage or approve of such a method of correction. Salafiyyah is not thuggery.
Salafiyyah is not anyone’s property and cannot be monopolized. Dear Muslims, the actions of a few do not represent Salaifyyah just as Boko Haram do not represent Muslims. The extremist, ex-communicator, the negative and destructive critic does not represent Salafiyyah.
Let me state it categorically that I am not an Ikhwanee but a Muslim whose understanding of Islam is based on the Qur’an and Sunnah as understood by the pious predecessors. Also, I have been humbled by – the contribution of the beardless Muslim that provides a home to 50 reverts to Islam, the willingness of the 70-year-old who would call to ask if this is correct in Islam or not, the commitment of a lawyer whose trousers are below his ankles who made sure that a Salafi sister should not sleep in a cell unjustly, the donation of the nominal Muslim towards a Masjid Project where we now use to call people to Tawheed.
These are people we talk to and still explain pristine Islam to them, calling to Tawheed without any form of compromise. Salafiyyah is sweet, it is pristine Islam, it has nothing to do with extremism and thuggery. Learn it, Love it!
The Seer said I didn’t quote a verse or Hadeeth, let me quote…

“On the authority of Abu Hamzah Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) – the servant of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) – that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his brother that which he loves for himself. [Al-Bukhari] [Muslim]”
Oh Seer! Stop shaming your brothers except you believe your brothers are the very few with the understanding in your illusion!
