It has been over a week since Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God announced a miracle that has comically entertained Nigerians amid the recent economic brouhaha.
Whenever I come across news of Pastor Adeboye’s miracles, I give him the benefit of the doubt before reacting because, as an octogenarian and PhD holder in Applied Mathematics, there are certain levels of preposterousness one would not expect from him. For that reason, I look for videos where he made such statements and try to understand the context. Still, the miracles are nothing short of ridiculous.
If Baba Adeboye is not having breakfast with God, he is on the telephone with God or the weather in a country is changing solely because of him. How do humans with their brains intact believe this?

As it appears, one only qualifies as a false prophet or man of God if he appears dirty, ugly, or theatrical like Odumegwu. If you wear a suit and have a PhD, you will not be treated like a pathological liar and fraud regardless of the number of ridiculous lies you have told. If not, do people believe Baba Adeboye is truthful with these miraculous claims, or is he just given the benefit of the doubt that he probably might be suffering from old age illness?
The nerve and audacity of pastors and even some Shehus to make preposterous claims and ascribe them to God will continue to be a slap in the face of Africans. Imagine a Shehu’s student claiming his boss ate breakfast in Ilorin, observed Dhuhr in Makkah, and was back in Ilorin by ‘Asr! Ah!
Charlatans are charlatans regardless of how much they have or their level of education. Baba Adeboye is a charlatan, and he will account to God for the lies he told against Him and the people he has misled. If the miracle were true, can we have more handkerchiefs and see the end of breast cancer?
