The holy month of Ramadan is, once again here; a month of eeman, rewards and countless blessings – a month which is much anticipated by Muslims worldwide.
Ramadan 2017
Ramadan is a month of purity and blessing, which includes the act of fasting and abstaining from any sinful acts between sunrise and sunset – better known as suhoor and iftar.
Fasting is one of the obligatory Five Pillars of Islam and serves as the fourth pillar. Aside from the countless lessons, fasting teaches us to be humble and spare a thought for those around the world who do not have nourishment as readily available to them.
In this month the act of charity is greatly rewarded, as it is a month of helping and giving to those less fortunate than ourselves.
There are many ways of giving in this month, such as fundraising, volunteering your time for a good cause, providing nourishment to those suffering from poverty, sponsoring a child, donating towards a good cause, helping the elderly; and the list can go on.
The point is, this holy month is not just about abstaining from food and drink, it serves as a reminder of those who have no access to the things we take for granted; keeping us humble and grounded. The beauty of this blessed month are the privileges and blessings so readily available to us in the form of reward. So, brothers and sisters, let’s join and help those who are most in need of our support in this month and beyond.
Let’s make Ramadan 2017 a reason to continue doing good in this world and sharing what was never ours to begin with.
May Allah SWT reward all your good deeds in this month and beyond. Ameen.
