What happens when a member of a Nigerian Christian family embraces Islam?
For some families, it is painful and difficult to accept. But for some reverts, that rejection can go much further — including pressure to abandon Islam, withdrawal of financial support, and statements about Islam and Muslims that are simply untrue.
Sister Felicia is currently experiencing this reality.
A Christian relative recently sent her a lengthy message urging her to return to Christianity. In the message, she was told that Muslims are “terrorists,” that they are “heartless,” that she would be taken advantage of, and that Islam is not a righteous path.
More importantly, she was told that financial support for her business would be available if she returned to Christianity, including an offer of up to ₦2 million, while assistance would not be provided if she remained Muslim.
Felicia has chosen to remain upon Islam.
But remaining upon her faith should not mean being left without the means to survive.
Coincidentally, I was in Ilorin when this matter was reported, so I personally met with the sister, who was brought to us by Barrister U.S. Imam.
Beyond the victimization and family pressure, Felicia is also dealing with a health issue that is consuming her limited financial resources, with little or no support from her family.
At KnowIslam Project, we believe that one of the best ways to support a revert is not merely to give temporary assistance, but to help them achieve AUTONOMY.

We are raising ₦1,000,000 (One Million Naira) to help Sister Felicia secure a shop and start a foodstuff and frozen food business.

It is about giving her a means to earn ₦1 million again and again through her own effort.
And perhaps most importantly, it is about reminding a sister who may feel abandoned that she is not alone.
