Blood bank in Yemeni capital on the verge of shutdown

0

Director of Yemen’s national blood bank warns the centre could shut down within one week due to lack of support.

Yemen’s national blood bank faces a complete shutdown within a week after a medical aid charity ended its two-year support, the facility’s director said on Thursday, warning that the closure could exacerbate the existing humanitarian crisis in the war-torn country.

Doctors Without Borders, known by the French acronym MSF, gave out its last donation to the blood bank in June after it signed an agreement with UN World Health Organization handing over the support to the UN agency.

“Supplies are running out,” Ayman al-Shihari, the general director of the National Blood Transfusion Centre, told The Associated Press over the phone from the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.
The MSF supplies cover only two months.
Al-Shihari added that the facility has yet to receive any aid from the WHO.

Adnan Al-Hakimi, who works at the blood bank, said that the centre is running low on all of its resources, including cannula solutions, blood bags, and other medical supplies.

“We are appealing to civil society organisations, businessmen, and all those doing charity work to save the lives of these patients and the wounded, so the centre does not go out of business,” he told Al Jazeera.
Yemen is facing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. The two-year-long war has crippled the country’s health system, depleted access to safe drinking water and put millions on the brink of famine.

Al-Shihari said that the bank’s closure could lead to a “humanitarian catastrophe”, noting that the facility receives up to 3,000 cases monthly, including patients with cancer, thalassaemia, kidney failure and those wounded in the war.

Thalassemia is a hereditary form of anemia that requires regular transfusions.

A Saudi-led coalition embarked on a campaign in March 2015 in Yemen with the aim of dislodging Iran-backed Shia Houthi rebels who control the capital and much of the north and restoring to power the internationally-recognized government of Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
The stalemated war has killed at least 10,000 people and has led to extensive civilian suffering with 17 million going hungry and nearly 80 percent of Yemeni children in need of humanitarian assistance, according to UN figures.

Syrian army bombs ‘safe zones’ killing civilians

Government bombs “de-escalation zones” while regime forces capture 30km border with Jordan from rebel control.

Eastern Ghouta is one of four “de-escalation zones” announced in May [Abdulmonam Eassa/AFP]

6 Comments At least four people have been killed in Syrian government bombardment on two areas included in “de-escalation zones”, as the Syrian army seized rebel-held areas near the border with Jordan.
Rami Abdel Rahman, the head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a UK-based monitoring group, said on Thursday that a man was killed early in the day in air strikes on Tal Dahab village near Al-Houla town in central Syria.

“De-escalation zones” were announced in May by opposition backer Turkey and regime allies Iran and Russia after talks in Kazakhstan.
Abbas Abu Osama, a resident of the town of Al-Houla, told AFP news agency that six strikes hit his hometown by Thursday afternoon.

“We have our first casualty, killed in an air strike in Tal Dahab” near Al-Houla, he said.

The raids in the area were the first since a truce was announced one week ago.

A woman, a man and a child were killed and seven more people were wounded in shelling on a town of Hammuriyeh in Eastern Ghouta area near the capital Damascus, SOHR said.

The Hammuriyeh attack came a day after government shelling killed five civilians and wounded 10 more in the nearby town of Kfar Batna, according to SOHR.

Air strikes have also pummelled rebel-held parts of the Jobar district of Damascus and the adjacent district of Ain Tarma.
Three of the “de-escalation zones” have been agreed so far: in Eastern Ghouta, the northern parts of central Homs province, and in Syria’s south.

The fourth zone, in northwestern Idlib province, has yet to be implemented.
Syrian army gains
Also on Thursday, the Syrian army and its allies seized control of at least 30km of Syria’s border with Jordan from rebels, two rebel groups and a Syrian military source said.

The Syrian military source described the advance as a “big success”.
A military media unit run by Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, a close ally of the Syrian government, said the army and its allies had gained control over all checkpoints and border posts on the border in Sweida, one of four Syrian provinces that border Jordan.

Rebel groups, some of them backed by Western and Arab states, still control much of Syria’s southwestern frontier with Jordan and Israel.
Sweida province was not included in a US-Russian brokered ceasefire that took effect in nearby areas of the southwest in July.

Said Saef, spokesman for the Western-backed rebel group Martyr Ahmed Abdo brigade, said Thursday’s attack came from two sides in Sweida’s east countryside.

“Most of the eastern Sweida countryside is now in the hands of the regime,” he added.

The army had advanced to the border and retaken posts it abandoned in the early years of the conflict when rebels took over large parts of south western Syria.

“They are now on the Jordanian border and back to outposts they had evacuated early in the conflict,” said Saef.

Another rebel spokesman said the army gains were helped by a sudden pull-back by Jaish al-Ashair rebel group, which is backed by Jordan and had been responsible for patrolling that stretch of the border.
More than 330,000 people have been killed since Syria’s conflict erupted in March 2011 with protests against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The conflict has drawn in international powers, including Russia, which has carried out bombing raids in support of Assad’s forces since September 2015.

Allah Is With Us!!!

Al-Hamdu Lillah

Indeed, “Verily, After Hardship Comes Ease”

At a time in which the Muslims are beset with trials from every periphery, it is only an opportunity for the Ummah to remain firm, strong and continue being Muslims , and in fact “only” Better Muslims.

I would say to my dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam, “don’t be Sad “; as long as you and I are on the true religion – believing in Oneness of Allah and all the Messengers sent to mankind.

Allah says in Surah Luqman {31:17} “Bear with patience whatever befalls you…”

Also in Surah At-Taubah {9:40} “and” Be not sad, surely Allah is with us… ”

You see, every messenger sent by Allah went through some trying moments.

That ultimately shows that as long as we exist as true believers, we should always be ready for some trying times.

And surely, to Allah is our return. {2:156}.

Our Beloved Prophet (PBUH) said: ” Verily , if Allah loves a people , He makes them go through trials . Whoever is satisfied, for him is contentment, and whoever is angry upon him is wrath .” [ Tirmidhi ]

Now, being sad is not encouraged in Islam as we read in Surah Âl-‘Imran(3:139 ) ” So do not become weak , nor be sad . . . ”

Also in Surah An-Nahl (16:127 ), Allah says ” And grieve not over them, and be not distressed because of what they plot . ”

Sadness prevents one from action instead of compelling one towards it.

The heart does not benefit through grief.

Be mindful of the fact that the most beloved thing to the devil is to hinder the worshipper in the path of Allah.

Now you know why many “Non-Muslims” out there would always dance when calamity befalls the Mujaheeddeen.

But would that stop anything? No!

Many would even say, “Come to Jesus and you shall be delivered” Yet, Jesuscouldn’t deliver himself as we read in so many places in the Bible just to highlight few:

{1}— John 5:30- Jesus was a powerless mortal man.

{2}— Mark 11:12-13 and Mathew 24:36- Jesus did not know the unseen and future.

{3}— Mathew 20:23- Jesus could not grant Paradise.

{4}— Mark 4:38- Jesus used to become weak, sleepy and tired.

{5}— John 18:22- Jesus was given a dirty slap by a soldier and he cried in protest.

{6}— John 11:53-54- Jesus always running for safety.

{7}— Mark 15:34 and Mathew 27:46- Jesus was reportedly crying on the cross for being forsaken.

As Muslims, we must repel sadness and fight in any way that is permissible in Islam.

Surah Âl-‘Imran (3:173-174) “Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs. So they returned with Grace and Bounty from Allah. No harm touched them; and they followed the good Pleasure of Allah. And Allah is the owner of Great Bounty.“

No one put his trust in Allah, and regret it!

As true believers, our trust in Allah should increasingly be strong.

Allah says in Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:23) “And put your trust in Allah if you are believers indeed . . .”

And as we continue to make Duah for our Brothers, let us also ensure we exhibit some patience.

Allah says in Surah Al-Baqarah “(2:153) “O you who believe!
Seek help in patience and As-Salât (the prayer). Truly! Allâh is with As-Sâbirin (the patient ones, etc.).”

By leaving your affairs to Allah by depending on Him, by trusting in His promise, by being pleased with His decree, by thinking favourably of Him, and by waiting patiently for His help, you reap some of the greater fruits of faith.

When you incorporate these qualities, you will be at peace concerning the future, because you will depend on your Lord for everything.

As a result, you will find care, help, protection and victory.

Finally, my dear respected Brothers and Sisters in Islam, Allah says in Surah Al-Hadid (57:22) “No calamity befalls on earth or in yourselves but is inscribed in the Book of Decrees – before We bring it into existence.”

Allahu Akbar!!!

The Pen has dried, and the pages have been lifted: all events shall come to pass have already been written.

Whatever has befallen you was not meant to escape you, and whatever has escaped you was not meant to befall you.

If this belief were to be firmly ingrained in our hearts, then all hardships and difficulty would become ease and comfort.

A dedication to my Brothers In Islam.

Israeli army reveals details of Gaza boarder

The underground wall alongside the 60km border costing $1.1bn will be completed within two years, Israel reveals.

The border that is being built by Israel is expected to reach dozens of metres underground to thwart Hamas-built tunnels, the Israeli military says [File photo: Reuters]

Show Comments Israel has revealed the construction of a sensor-equipped underground wall alongside the 60km border with the Gaza Strip, which it described as a counter-measure to Hamas tunnels leading outside of its coastal territory.

Israeli media published new disclosures by the military on Thursday about the project, costing $1.1bn and to be completed within two years under an accelerated schedule.

The underground wall, which will be built from concrete and be fitted with sensors, is expected to reach dozens of metres deep into the ground and to stand at six metres high from ground level.

Israel has described it as a territorial counterpart to its Iron Dome short-range rocket interceptor, capable of blunting Hamas’s limited means of challenging its superior armed forces.

The Israeli Haaretz newspaper reported that in recent months, Israel had brought foreign labourers and contracted companies to flatten the area around the border.

“I think the other side will have to re-evaluate the situation in view of the barrier’s construction,” said the chief of Israel’s southern command Major-General Eyal Zamir.

“If Hamas chooses to go to war over the barrier, it will be a worthy reason (for Israel) to go to war over. But the barrier will be built.”
Hamas accused Israel of belligerence.

The unusually detailed Israeli threat followed a rocket launch on Tuesday which caused no damage in Israel and went unclaimed by Palestinian groups. Israel responded with an air attack on a Hamas facility that medics said wounded seven people.

Such flare-ups have been relatively rare since the last Israeli offensive on Gaza in 2014, with Hamas mostly holding fire and reining in smaller armed factions.

But as Gaza’s poverty and political drift deepens, both sides worry another conflict could erupt.

‘Legitimate military targets’

Israel also said it had mapped armed emplacements hidden under civilian sites in the Palestinian enclave that may be attacked in any new war.

The military published aerial photographs and coordinates of two Gaza buildings that it said Hamas was using as cover for tunnel networks. One of these, it said, is a Hamas member’s family home, linked to a mosque by a secret passage.

“These two targets, as far as I’m concerned, are legitimate military targets, and in the event that a new war begins, anybody in them is endangering himself, his family, and the responsibility (for their wellbeing) will fall on Hamas,” Zamir said in a separate briefing to foreign journalists.

A Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum called the Israeli statements “lies and fabrications that aim to damage the image of the Palestinian resistance and justify the mass killing of thousands of Palestinians civilians”.

More than 2,100 Palestinians, most of them civilians, were killed in the 2014 war, according to the Gaza health ministry. Sixty-seven Israeli soldiers and six civilians in Israel were killed.

A new buffer zone within Israel’s territory, dozens of metres in width, will afford it extra time to respond by depriving Hamas tunnelers during war of targets on the frontier.

Israeli media said on Thursday that the military also planned to build an underwater barrier in the Mediterranean to prevent infiltration from Gaza by sea.

over 150 refugees thrown into Yemen sea, 13 missing

OVER 150 REFUGEES THROWN INTO YEMEN SEA, 13 MISSING

At least six dead and 13 missing after at least 160 refugees forced off boat – the second such incident in 24 hours.

More refugees and migrants have been “deliberately drowned” by human smugglers for the second time in 24 hours off the coast of Yemen, according to the United Nations migration agency.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said in a statement late on Thursday that its staff found six bodies on the beach – two male and four female – and 13 people are still missing.

It said 84 migrants left the beach before IOM staff arrived while it provided emergency medical assistance as well as food and water to 57 surviving migrants.

The UN migration agency said 160 Ethiopian migrants were violently forced into the Arabian Sea on Thursday.

“It is indeed a very dramatic situation,” Laurent de Boeck, the agency’s chief for Yemen, told Al Jazeera from Brussels on Thursday.

“They were in a boat with smugglers, who dropped them at sea before arriving at the shore. Some people have disappeared. But others were actually buried by their friends on the beaches.”

De Boeck said the incident was reported by some of the survivors, whom he described as “exhausted and under shock”.

“This situation is new,” he said, adding that “it is the first time” that his agency documented people being forced out of the boats by smugglers before reaching the shores.

De Boeck said that the civil war in Yemen and the collapse of the state have allowed “criminal networks to act freely”, endangering many refugees and migrants.

William Lacy Swing, the head of IOM, lamented the deaths in a video posted on Twitter, saying there was “something fundamentally wrong with this world if countless numbers of children can be deliberately and ruthlessly drowned”.

He described the smuggling route from the Horn of Africa to Yemen as “a busy and extremely dangerous route” because of the conflict there.

The war between the Saudi-backed government and Iran-backed Houthi rebels has killed more than 10,000 people and wounded a further 44,500 since 2015.

In the incident on Wednesday, the smuggler forced more than 120 people into the sea as they approached Yemen’s coast, the IOM statement said. Its staffers found the shallow graves of 29 migrants on a beach in Shabwa during a routine patrol. At least 22 migrants remained missing.

The passengers’ average age was 16, the agency said.

De Boeck told Al Jazeera on Thursday that smugglers from Djibouti, Ethiopia and Somalia work with their counterparts in Yemen to transport people across the Horn of Africa.

The narrow waters between the Horn of Africa and Yemen have been a popular migration route despite Yemen’s ongoing conflict. Refugees and migrants try to make their way to the oil-rich Gulf countries.

But once in Yemen, the refugees and migrants face the brutality of war, forcing them back to Sudan, Egypt and Libya, where they cross the Mediterranean to reach Europe.

Yemen war: Fears as vital blood bank centre faces closure
More than 111,500 refugees and migrants landed on Yemen’s shores last year, up from around 100,000 the year before, according to the Regional Mixed Migration Secretariat, a grouping of international agencies that monitors migration in the area.

Since January this year, the IOM said that about 55,000 people had left Horn of Africa nations for Yemen. A third of them are estimated to be women.

Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, told reporters on Thursday that the international community must give priority to preventing and resolving situations “which both generate mass movement and expose those already on the move to significant danger”.

“We must also increase legal pathways for regular migration and offer a credible alternative to these dangerous crossings for people in need of international protection,” he added.

Al Jazeera’s Rosiland Jordan, reporting from the UN in New York, said many of the refugees had been handcuffed by smugglers which – according to survivors – had been done to get more pepole into the boats and to make it impossible for them to escape and report on the smugglers if something went wrong.

Jordan said it was unlikely the smugglers could be arrested, detained, or tried given that Yemen is in a state of war.

“So there’s a real sense of urgency [at the UN] in trying to prevent this from happening again, but with Yemen in a state of war, and its security forces really outmanned by these smuggling operations, this situation could get worse before it gets better,” she said.

The Call to testify that there is nothing deserving of Worship in truth except
Allah

Allah the Exalted said:
“Say you (O Muhammad (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) : ‘This is my
way; I invite unto Allah (i.e. to the Oneness of Allah –Islamic Monotheism) (with sure
knowledge), I and whosoever follows me (also must invite others to Allah i.e. to the Oneness of
Allah -Islamic Monotheism) with sure knowledge. And Glorified and Exalted is Allah (above all
that they associate as partners with Him), and I am not of the polytheists.’ ”
(12: 108)

Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
When Allah’s Messenger (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) sent Mu’adh
(May Allah be pleased with him) to Yemen, he said, “You will come upon the People of the
Book, let your first act be to call them to testify that -There is nothing worthy of worship in truth
but Allah.”

And in another version of this tradition (it is said):
“To single out Allah Alone in the worship, i.e. actualize the Oneness (Tauhid) of Allah-if  they obey you in this, inform them that Allah has prescribed for them to offer 5 prayers (Salat)
every day and night. If they obey you in this, then inform them that Allah has imposed upon them  the duty of Sadaqah (Zakat) to be levied from their rich and distributed to the poor, If they obey
you in this, then be careful not to take the best of their properties (as payment of Zakat), and  safeguard yourself against the supplication of those who have suffered injustice because there is
no veil between his supplication and Allah,” [Al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 1389/1425 and Muslim]

Both collectors have also reported that Sahl bin Sa’d (May Allah be pleased with him) said:

On the day of Khaibar, Allah’s Messenger (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him)  asserted, “Tomorrow I shall indeed give the flag to a person who loves Allah and His Messenger
and is loved by Allah and His Messenger. Allah will grant victory under his leadership.” The  people spent the night absorbed in discussing as to whom might the flag be given! In the morning
they came eagerly to Allah’s Messenger (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) each  of them hoping to be given the flag. Allah’s Messenger (May the peace and blessing of Allah be
upon him) asked, “Where is Ali bin Abi Talib?” They replied, “He is suffering from an eye  ailment.” He was sent for and brought. Allah’s Messenger (May the peace and blessing of Allah  be upon him) then spat in his eyes and prayed for him, where upon he was cured as if he had no previous pains. Allah’s Messenger (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) then gave  him the flag and said,

“Advance with ease and gentleness until you arrive in their midst, then call
them to Islam and inform them of their duties to Allah in Islam. By Allah, if He may guide  through you a single man to Islam then it is better for you than the red camels.”

Important issues of the Chapter

1) It is the way of the followers of Prophet Muhammad (May the peace and blessing of Allah be  upon him) to call people to Islam.

2) Stress upon sincerity of intention, for many who supposedly call to the truth merely call to themselves.

3) Calling people to Allah with sure knowledge is obligatory.

4) Of the signs of the beauty of Tauhid is its being free of any blasphemy towards Allah.

5) The ugliness of Shirk is that it vilifies Allah.

6) Of the most important issues of the chapter is that a Muslim must and should remain aloof  from polytheists in order to not become like them even if he does not himself commit Shirk.

7) Having Tauhid (and calling towards it) is the foremost obligation.

8) We must first begin with Tauhid before everything, even Salat.

9) The meaning of singling out Allah Alone in worship and being sincere in His Oneness is the  meaning of the Shahadah “La ilaha illa-Allah “.

10) Among the people of the Scriptures are some who either have no knowledge of Tauhid, or if  they do, they don’t follow it accordingly.

11) Stress on teaching step by step.

12) The most important issues must be explained first.

13) How to spend Zakat (obligatory charity).

14) The scholar (learned) must try to clear away misunderstandings of the learner.

15) The best properties of people must not be taken for Zakat (obligatory charity).

16) Beware of the supplication of the oppressed.

17) We are informed that there is no barrier to the supplication of the oppressed one (to be  accepted).

18) The afflictions, hardship, hunger and epidemics suffered by the head of all the Prophets and  the best of those close to Allah (May Allah be pleased with him) are nothing but exact  evidences of Tauhid.

19) The Prophet’s assertion: “I shall indeed give the flag …” is a sign from among the signs of  Prophethood.

20) Applying spit to the eyes of Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) and the subsequent cure he  received, is another sign of the Prophethood.

21) The superiority of Ali (May Allah be pleased with him)

22) The merits and virtues of the Companions (May Allah be pleased with him) that they kept  speculating among themselves throughout the night (as to whom the flag might be handed  over to) and their preoccupation with it over the news of lasting victory.

23) An illustration of the faith in Qadar -how the predetermined occurs to those who do not seek  it and denial to those who wished it all along the night.

24) The manner of the Prophet’s advice to Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) “Go to the people  with ease and gentleness.”

25) Calling to Islam before waging war.

26) Legitimacy of fighting with those who were previously called to Islam but rejected it.

27) Preaching Islam with wisdom as evidenced in his (May Allah be pleased with him) words:  “Inform them of the obligations upon them”.

28) Recognizing the duty to Allah in Islam.

29) The reward of a person by whose hand a single man is guided.

30) To swear in support of a juristic verdict.

So, if not on the basis of the second commandment, why else should anyone object? Well, does the biblical passage stating that God created man “in Our image,
according to Our likeness” mean that God created man to look like Him, or to have
dominion over worldly creation, similar to how God has dominion over all Creation,
ourselves included? The latter is the context in which this verse was revealed, for the full
verse reads, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the
cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth” (Genesis
1:26). This verse doesn’t read, “In Our image, according to Our likeness; let him have
eyes and a nose, a mouth and ears …” No, it speaks of dominion, not of physical
appearance. Not once, but twice, for in the following verses God said to humankind, “Be
fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it, have dominion over the fish of the sea,
over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Genesis
1:28).
So how should we portray God? According to both the second commandment and
the above verses, not at all. For not only does God command us not to, but we have no
idea what He looks like in the first place.
Similarly, the Christian claim that the God of the Old Testament repented and
changed from a harsh and wrathful God to the loving and forgiving God of the New
Testament is not universally accepted. In fact, many consider this concept contradicted
both by scripture—“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He
should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make
it good?” (Numbers 23:19)—and by common sense.

The Islamic understanding of God is more simple, and is similar to the Jewish
understanding in many respects. The critical elements of Islamic creed rest upon the
word, tawheed, which defines the Oneness of Allah, affirms

His many unique names and
attributes, and directs people to speak and act in a manner pleasing to God.
According to the Islamic religion, Allah is One in essence, eternal and absolute.
He is living, selfsubsisting, allknowing, allpowerful. He is in need of no one, but all are in need of Him. He does not beget, and is not begotten. He is “the First,” without
beginning, “the Last,” without end, and He has no partners or cosharers in divinity.
Allah is “the Predominant,” above Whom there is no one. He is “the Omniscient,”
perfect in knowledge, comprehending all things large and small, open and concealed, and
“AllWise,” free from errors in judgment. He is “the Compassionate,” “the Merciful,”
whose mercy encompasses all creation. However, while Allah loves and rewards belief
and piety, He hates impiety and punishes transgression. Being “the Omnipotent,” His
power is absolute, and none can frustrate His decree.  Many other characteristic names are given in the Holy Qur’an, such as Allah
being the Lord and Master of creation—mankind having been created through His will
and living, dying, and returning to Him on

The Day of Judgment according to His decree.  Muslims further recognize that Allah is beyond complete human understanding, as there
is nothing in creation comparable to Him. Perhaps in the afterlife we will be gifted with
greater understanding, but in this life, knowledge of our Creator is confined within the
boundaries of revelation.
Similar to Judaism, but unlike Christianity, there are no physical representations
of Allah in Islam. Consequently, the minds of the believers are not befuddled with
anthropomorphic “big man in the sky” imagery. Furthermore, the Islamic religion does
not assign gender to Allah, for Allah is understood to be transcendentally above all such
characteristics. The attribution of sexual traits is considered especially offensive,
blasphemous even, to Muslims. So while referred to by the male pronoun in the Qur’an,
this is nothing more than a linguistic necessity, for there is no genderneutral pronoun in the Arabic language. Lord, God, Creator and Master though He may be, nowhere in Islam
is Allah referred to as “Father.”
The Islamic understanding of God meets a number of objections in the
predominantly Christian West. The first is that Islam recognizes Jesus as a prophet but
not as a “son of God,” and especially not in a “begotten, not made” sense. The second is
that Islam teaches the Oneness of God and condemns the concept of the Trinity. The
third objection is that Muslims do not believe mankind inherited the burden of original
sin, for this concept is not compatible with God’s justice and mercy. The last is that
Muslims believe Jesus was raised up and saved from crucifixion, which invalidates the
doctrines of atonement and resurrection.
These differences in belief are significant, for they constitute the major faultlines
where the continental shelves of Christianity and Islam collide.

WAITING FOR THE CALL

Miles away,Oceans apart
Never in my sight but always in my heart
The love is always there it will never die

Only growing stronger, as tears rolls down from my eye
Am thinking of the time when the day will come
Standing there before you, accept this HAJJ of mine

Standing in IHRAM making my tawaf.
Drinking blessings from your well (zamzam)
The challenge of Safar and marwa rekindles my iman

Oh! Allah I am waiting for the call
Waiting for that day when I can be near the ka’ba walls

I feel alive and I feel strong
I can feel Islam running through my vain
To see my Muslims brothers and sisters for the same purpose

Greeting one another with Salam (peace)
Exalting one true name (Allah)
The creator of mankind

I truly hope one day everyone will get the chance to be there
To be blessed with the greatest honour

Pastor contracted me to get a virgin for ritual purposes —Suspect

0

A man suspected to be an accomplice of a fake pastor has said he was contracted to kidnap a virgin girl for ritual purposes.

During a Police parade, an alleged fake pastor of a white garment church in Sagamu, Kehinde Onayiga, and 55 other suspects were paraded by the Ogun State Police Command at its headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta on Thursday.

The suspects’ offences allegedly range from ritual killing to kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery and impersonation.

Among the suspects paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, was Onayiga, who is alleged to have a hand in the killing of a 13-year-old girl, Anuoluwapo Ajisafe, for ritual purposes.

He alleged accomplice, Musiliu Jibril, reportedly lured the victim to Onayiga’s church where she was said to have been murdered.

Jibril confessed to journalists that it was Onayiga who contracted him to source for a female virgin, who he wanted to use for ritual purpose, in preparing some fetish materials for some Internet fraudsters.

He said, “I was able to lure the girl because she knew me and the mother, too, knew me.

“It was the pastor (Onayiga) that contracted me to help him get a female virgin for ritual. He told me he wanted to prepare some charms for some Yahoo boys.

“I delivered the girl to him in his church at Sagamu. He promised to pay me N20,000, but I am yet to get the money.”

Onayiga, dressed in white garment, and holding two goat horns wrapped in red cloth, denied the allegation, saying, “It is a lie. he did not deliver any girl to me in my church.”

Onayiga said he trained under an Islamic cleric before branching out to start a white garment church.

Asked what he used the fetish-looking goat horns wrapped in red cloth for, he responded, “I used them to pray for those that are sick and are brought to my church for healing.”

The teenage girl, Anuoluwapo, was said to have been missing since June 21, 2017 and her whereabouts remains unknown till date.

Another suspect paraded for murder/ritual killing was Bakare Olalekan, who was linked to the killing of a 16-year-old girl, Olayinka Adebayo, in Ijebu area, and reportedly sold her heart to ritualists.

Iliyasu said four members of the syndicate were already in police net, while the suspect (Olalekan), had confessed to selling two human hearts to one of them.

He said he bought one of the human hearts for N10,000 from a friend called Oye.

Also nabbed were a mother, Mulika Alaba and her 16-year-old daughter, Olamide Saliu, who allegedly dealt in Indian hemp.

A bag of Indian hemp was allegedly recovered from them.

Iliyasu said in a bid to curb criminality in the state, the command had deployed tactical and covert operatives from the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Police Mobile Force, conventional policemen, intelligence unit and Anti-Kidnapping/ Cultism to the length and breadth of the state.
