The leader of Egungun Masquerade, Esuleke, has been remanded in Ilesa Prison over attack on Muslims in Osogbo.
The notorious leader was docked at Osogbo High Court on Tuesday, 13 September on 13 counts charges of offense including murder, attempted killing, occasioning harm, malicious damage, assault, breach of public peace and engaging in a public fight.
Esuleke’s tragedy started on June 27th when he, alongside his Egungun masquerade boys, attacked Qomarul Islam society of Nigeria.
The gruesome attack saw the killing of the Baba Adini of the society and a huge damage to the mosque and its property.
Two other persons remanded with Esuleke are Adeosun and Hakeem Idowu. While the defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against them, Justice Ayo Oyebiyi adjourned the matter till September 21, 2021 for consideration of bail.
