In our contemporary world, the way people are becoming hedonistic is on the rise and  getting out of hand while the decline in moral values calls for serious concern. It is unfortunate that these vices are deeply rooted in self acclaimed religious individuals or organizations. One would imagine, given that most of those in Nigerian government are either Muslims or Christians hence there should be little or no corruption but…

Our society today is such that the average man has the “money first” syndrome. Have we not seen people who go for Hajj and Umrah yet they deal in haraam business? Check out there, you will find many “Alhajis” selling alcohol, running a brothel etc.

How much priority have we given to wear shoes with right legs first, say this before entering this place, say this before wearing that yet spirituality is missing. Image two people meeting for haraam business and one is correcting the other to drink with the right hand. That’s our situation. We are concerned about what people see than what we do just like the Pharisees and Sadducees during Jesus’ era.

Hajj services fee is being inflated. While the innocent person going for Hajj intends to perform acts of worship, to many hajj officials, it is another year of money making. Pilgrims now have to monitor  their bags from being stolen. The case is worst to the extent that Zamzam water stolen from pilgrims are being sold.

Most of us have heard of or read about the most recent. 200 tonnes of Date fruits (Dabino) sent from Saudi Arabia to Nigerian Muslims found way into markets. These dates fruits which are to be shared for free are now being sold in the market and these  people can sleep with their Godless acts!!! These are people who cannot help the IDPs yet make money off their conditions.

We cannot continue to buy free Qur’ans, free books, free dates. For how long are we going to keep soiling our image in the face of other nations? We cannot continue to watch while a minority suffers the majority. We urge the federal government to look into this, tell us those responsible for the selling of these dates, bring them to book hence proving to us that it is truly “Anti-corruption” minded.

Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 153:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ

O you who believe! seek help through patience and prayer; surely Allah is with the patient.

Surah Al-Burooj, Verse 10:

Surely (as for) those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, then do not repent, they shall have the chastisement of hell, and they shall have the chastisement of burning.
