Summary of Mufti Menk’s Divine Lecture at Siaka Stevens Stadium, Sierra Leone.
Having greeted us with the peaceful words of Allah, Assallamu Allaikum Warahmatula Wabarakatu for up to three times, he Mufti Menk moves on to recite some verses of the Holy Quran in a very solemn, touching n emotional manner. He sends prayers and salutations to the Holy Prohet Muhammad SAW. He continues by saying the following:
Frstly, he Mufti states we didn’t go to the stadium because of him but only for Allah, he says that up to three times, and sends warm appreciation to all and sundry.
Love for one another, he profoundly makes emphasis on d said issue, that live not only for yourself but for all, as that can go a long way in developing our nation. One must feel happy for another’s successes just like it’s theirs. He points out that only through love for one another our country can develop. He cites an example from a man in a hurt burning dessert who provided water to a very thirsty dog and that kindness, feeling n value for life shown by the man to the dog was his means to heaven, talkless of a kind act to our fellow human being.
Reconciliation he says we must all do to those we ‘ve hurt or ‘re in disagreement with, i.e family members, neighbours, workmates etc. He says we shouldn’t feel proud or esteemed for you to start d greetings or reconnect with your fellow human being in malice. In fact he says there is blessing for d one who champions reconciliation
Reaching Out Even More to People We Don’t Share d Same Faith, he points out that as Muslims our actions to disbelivers, Jews, Hindus, Christians etc must be peaceful, tolerant, kind, encouraging etc. As he claims that is one key principle of islam
Smile, he Mufti elaborately talks on smile n how beautifully a smile can bring encouragement, confidence and hope even in d midst of trials, pains, sickeness, misfortune etc. for Allah knows all you’re going through. He assures that the trial and affliction in man’s life is just a test from HIM Allah but not as a burden for HIS slave
Oneness, he lectures about onesss, that we ‘re one, and if we trace our origin our greatest grand parents ‘re Adam n Noah Allai Sallam. He mentions prophets Adam, Noah, Ibrahim, Musa, Jesus and Muhammad SAW with with various revelations but with one message of Islam which is d oneness of Allah. Muhammad he says is d best of all creation, and the seal of all prophets.
Honesty and Hard Work he says is a key way to success here n d hereafter. We must be honest, sincere and work hard if we want to gain Aljanatu Firdous as he said.
Husband and Wife (role models) he Mufti Menk says both the wife and the husband should love unconditionally, should assist each other, should pray and play and they should avoid suspicion as the kids will grow up learning exactly from them. He mentions a man from Sudan that was a model and prayerful with his family to an extent that a whole chapter was named after him in d Holy Quran. Suratul Lukman
Making Marriage Easily Accessed, Mufti Menk clearly cautions parent to facilitate n make marriage easily achievable for their sons n daughters according to the sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW.
Resilience in asking for Allah’s Mercy and Goodness, he further explains that we should not get tired of asking Allah’s mercy n goodness, we ‘re not alone in our pains n trials for HE is all hearing, all seeing n knows what is right for HIS slave and the time it’s most appropriate.
Conclusively, he stresses again about the importance of us being in unity as a nation, he lavishly describes Salone a beautiful country with fine people, beautiful weather. He shares deep hearted pain with us in thebrecent mudslide disaster, most importantly he declares himself our brother n a Sierra Leonean. He prays for people around the glove in suffering including the people of Burma. And he makes a sealing Du’a for we and people of Sierra Leone for development, progress and land unity.
Mufti Ismail Menk’s divine Inspiration lecture is very timely to us all and let’s apply all we ‘ve learnt from him in our homes, communities, work and business places and in our governance system.
