WE BELIEVE IN JESUS

0

We are presenting this not to placate you out of policy or diplomacy. We are only articulating what our Creator had commanded us in the Qur’an (which is translated as follows):

“Say (O Muslim), “We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Abraham (Abraham), Isma’il (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Ya’qub (Jacob), and to Al-Asbat [the twelve sons of Ya’qub (Jacob)], and that which has been given to Musa (Moses) and ‘Isa (Jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam)”.

(Qur’an, Al-Baqarah 2:136)

“We believe in One Creator, we believe in all His Prophets, we believe that Jesus (peace be upon him) was one of the mightiest Prophets of God, That he was the Messiah as well as the Word of God, that he was born miraculously – without any male intervention(which many modern-day Christians do not believe today), that he gave life to the deeds by God’s Permission, and that he healed those born blind and the lepers by God’s Permission.”

Islam respects all religions. Nevertheless, Muslims consider the view of Christendom to be a misguided one. The Qur’an highlights the important aspects of Jesus (peace be upon him) mother, his birth, his mission and his ascension to heaven.

Virgin Mary

The story of Jesus (peace be upon him) in the Qur’an starts with the conception of his mother, Mary, when the wife of Imran, Mary’s mother, vowed to dedicate her child to the service of God in the temple. This is mentioned in the following verses (which is translated as follows):

“(Remember) when the wife of ‘Imran said: “O my Lord! I have vowed to You what (the child that) is in my womb to be dedicated for Your services (free from all worldly work; to serve Your place of worship), so accept this, from me. Verily, You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knowing.”

“Then when she delivered her child [Maryam (Mary)], she said: “O my Lord! I have delivered a female child,” – and Allah knew better what she delivered, – “And the male is not like the female, and I have named her Maryam (Mary), and I seek refuge with You (Allah) for her and for her offspring from Shaytan (Satan), the outcast.”

“So her Lord (Allah) accepted her with goodly acceptance, He made her grow in a good manner and put her under the care of Zakariya (Zachariya). Every time he entered Al-Mihrab (a praying place or private room) to (visit) her, he found her supplied with sustenance. He said: “O Maryam (Mary)! from where have you got this?” She said “This is from Allah” Verily, Allah provides sustenance to whom He wills, without limit.”

(Qur’an, Al-‘Imran 3:35-37)

The Qur’an stated also that the Almighty Allah chose Mary, purified her and raised her above all other women of the world. This is mentioned in the following verses (which is translated as follows):

“And (remember) when the angels said: “O Maryam (Mary)! Verily, Allah has chosen you, purified you (from polytheism and disbelief), and chosen you above the women of the ‘Alamin (Mankind and Jinns) (of her lifetime).”

“O Mary! “Submit yourself with obedience to your Lord (Allah, by worshipping none but Him Alone) and prostrate yourself, and Irkai (bow down etc.) along with Ar-Raki’un (those who bow etc.)”

(Qur’an, Al-‘Imran 3:42-43)

Miraculous Birth Of Jesus

Concerning the birth of Jesus (peace be upon him), Allah says through chapter Mary in the Qur’an (which is translated as follows):

“And mention in the Book (The Qur’an, O Muhammad, the story of) Maryam (Mary), when she withdrew in seclusion from her family to a place facing east.”

“She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent to her Our Ruh [angel Jibrael (Gabriel)], and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects.”

“She said: “Verily! I seek refuge with the Most Beneficent (Allah) from you, if you do fear Allah.”

“(The angel) said: “I am only a Messenger from your Lord, (to announce) to you the gift of a righteous son.”

“She said: “How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, nor am I unchaste?”

“He said: “So (it will be), your Lord said: ‘That is easy for Me (Allah): And (We wish) to appoint him as a sign to mankind and a mercy from Us (Allah), and it is a matter (already) decreed, (by Allah).”

“So she conceived him, and she withdrew him to a far place (i.e. Bethlehem valley about 4-6 miles from Jerusalem).”

“And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of the date-palm. She said: “Would that I had died before this, and had been forgotten and out of sight!”

“Then [the babe ‘Isa (Jesus) cried unto her from below her, saying: “Grieve not! Your Lord has provided a water stream under you;”

“And shake the trunk of date-palm towards you, it will let fall fresh ripe dates upon you.”

“So eat and drink and be glad, and if you see any human being, say: ‘Verily! I have vowed a fast unto the Most Beneficent (Allah) so I shall not speak to any human being this day.”

“Then she brought him (the baby) to her people, carrying him. They said: “O Mary! Indeed you have brought a thing Fariya (an unheard mighty thing).”

“O sister (i.e. the like) of Harun (Aaron) [not the brother of Musa (Moses), but he was another pious man at the time of Maryam (Mary)]! Your father was not a man who used to commit adultery, nor your mother was an unchaste woman.”

“Then she pointed to him. They said: “How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?”

“He [‘Isa (Jesus)] said: Verily! I am a slave of Allah, He has given me the Scripture and made me a Prophet;”

“And He has made me blessed wherever I be, and has enjoined on me Salat (prayer), and Zakat (charity), as long as I live.”

“And dutiful to my mother, and made me not arrogant, unblest.”

“And Salaam (peace) be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!”

“Such is ‘Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). (It is) a statement of truth, about which they doubt (or dispute).”

“It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son [this refers to the slander of Christians against Allah, by saying that ‘Isa (Jesus) is the son of Allah]. Glorified (and Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). When He decrees a thing, He only says to it, “Be!” – and it is.”

[‘Isa (Jesus) said]: “And verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him (Alone). That is the Straight Path. (Allah’s Religion of Islamic Monotheism which He did ordain for all of His Prophets).”

(Qur’an, Maryam 19:16-36)

Jesus the Son of Mary

The Church maintains that Jesus (peace be upon him) is the “Only-begotten Son” of God, and also God Himself, since the doctrine of Trinity considers God as the Son, as the Father and as the “Holy Ghost” all at the same time! Catholics further emphasize the divinity of Mary as the “Mother of God”. Islam rejects all these concepts in totality. Allah says in the Qur’an (which is translated as follows):

“Surely, they have disbelieved who say: “Allah is the Messiah [‘Isa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary)”, But the Messiah [‘Isa (Jesus)] said; “O Children of Israel! worship Allah, My Lord and your Lord.” Verily, whosoever set up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Polytheist and wrongdoers there are no helpers.”

“Surely, disbelievers are those who said: “Allah is the third of the three (in a Trinity)”, But there is no Ilah (God) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilah (God – Allah). And if they cease not from what they say, verily, painful torment will befall the disbelievers among them.”

“Will they not repent to Allah and ask His forgiveness? For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

“The Messiah [‘Isa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary), was no more than a Messenger; Many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother [Maryam (Mary)] was a Siddiqah [i.e. she believed in the words of Allah and His Books]. They both used to eat food (as any other human being, while Allah does not eat). Look how We make the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lesson, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to them, yet look how they are deluded away (from the truth).”

(Qur’an, Al-Maidah 5:72-75)

The Muslims rather contend that the miraculous birth of Jesus (peace be upon him) without a father does not make him a God or a “begotten” son of God. Allah said in the Qur’an (which is translated as follows):

“And they (Jews, Christians and pagans) say: Allah has begotten a son (Children or offspring). Glory be to Him (Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). Nay, to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth, and all surrender with obedience (in worship) to Him.”

“The Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it: “Be!” – and it is.”

(Qur’an, Al-Baqarah 2:116-117)

Further more Allah says in the Qur’an (which is translated as follows):

“Say: (O Muhammad) “He is Allah, (the) One”, “Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks)”, “He begets not, nor was He begotten”, “And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him.”

(Qur’an, Al-Ikhlas 112:1-4)

The birth of Jesus (peace be upon him) was not any more supernatural than the creation of our father Adam. Allah said in the Qur’an (which is translated as follows):

“Verily, the likeness of ‘Isa (Jesus) before Allah is the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: “Be!” – and he was.”

(Qur’an, Al-‘Imran 3:59)

Mission of Jesus

Our creator sent Prophets to set mankind on the right path. Jesus (peace be upon him) was similarly one of the Messengers of God, he was prepared by God to be sent to the Jews (children of Israel) who had deviated from the teachings of prophet Moses (peace be upon him) He (Allah) taught him the Book, the wisdom, the Torah, the Gospel and supported him with numerous miracles to prove that he was a Messenger from Allah. In the Qur’an Allah says (which is translated as follows):

“(Remember) when the angels said: “O Maryam (Mary)! Verily, Allah gives you the glad tidings of a Word [“Be!” – and he was! i.e. ‘Isa (Jesus) the son of Maryam (Mary)] from him, his name will be the Messiah ‘Isa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), held in honour in this world and in the Hereafter, and will be one of those who are near to Allah.”

“He will speak to the people in the cradle and in manhood, and he will be one of the righteous.”

“She said: “O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me”, He said: “So (it will be) for Allah creates what He wills. When He has decreed something, He says to it only: “Be!” – and it is.”

“And He (Allah) will teach him [‘Isa (Jesus)] the Book and Al-Hikmah (i.e. the Sunnah, the faultless speech of the Prophets, wisdom, etc.), (and) the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel).”

“And will make him [‘Isa (Jesus)] a Messenger to the children of Israel (saying): “I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, that I design for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah’s Leave; and I heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by Allah’s Leave. And I inform you of what you eat, and what you store in your houses. Surely, therein is a sign for you, if you believe.”

“And I have to confirm that which was before me of the Taurat (Torah), and to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden to you, and I have come to you with a proof from your Lord. So fear Allah and obey me.”

(Qur’an, Al-‘Imran 3:45-50)

It should be mentioned that while Muslims believe that Jesus (peace be upon him) was given God’s “Good news” they do not recognise the present “Four Gospels” as the utterances of Jesus (peace be upon him).

Even the church agrees that the “Four Gospels” were written by four different men, but they maintain that they were divinely inspired. This idea is rejected by us. It can be agreed that if the four writers were divinely inspired, then why are there so many serious discrepancies and omissions in their individual accounts of the life of Jesus (peace be upon him)? Another mission of Jesus (peace be upon him) was to tell the people about the coming of the final Prophet after him. The Almighty God said in the Qur’an (which is translated as follows):

“And (remember) when ‘Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: “O Children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah unto you confirming the Taurat [(Torah) which came] before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmed. But when he (Ahmed i.e. Muhammad) came to them with clear proofs, they said: “This is plain magic.”

(Qur’an, Al-Anam 6:61)

The New Testament speaks of the coming of a “Comforter” after the ministry of Jesus. Some Christians believe or were made to believe that the promised “Comforter” is the “Holy Spirit”, but this view cannot be maintained because the “Holy Spirit” was already present during Jesus (peace be upon him) ministry, and its coming was not a future event. The Muslims, therefore, believe that the term “Comforter” of necessity refers to a Prophet. He was Muhammad the unlearned Prophet , the sole Prophet who brought with him a complete, comprehensive revelation from God which has been preserved as it was revealed to him originally, challenging the whole world to come up with one chapter like it, yet unsuccessfully challenged till present day. It is the Miracle of Miracles, the Last Testament of faith addressed to the whole world embodying complete light and guidance as well as the reprove of sin.

Jesus was Raised to Heaven

Jesus (peace be upon him) was followed by a few disciples who were inspired by God to support him. Not only that, but the nonbelievers plotted to kill Jesus (peace be upon him), but God had a better plan for him and his followers as the Qur’an tells us in the following verses (which is translated as follows):

“Then when ‘Isa (Jesus) came to know of their disbelief, he said: “Who will be my helpers in Allah’s Cause?” Al-Hawariun (the disciples) said: “We are the helpers of Allah; we believe in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims (i.e. we submit to Allah).”

“Our Lord! We believed in what You have sent down, and we follow the Messenger [‘Isa (Jesus)]; so write us down among those who bear witness (to the truth i.e. La Ilaha Ill-Allah – none has the right to be worshipped but Allah).”

“And they (disbelievers) plotted [to kill ‘Isa (Jesus)], and Allah planned too. And Allah is the best of the planners.”

“And (remember) when Allah said: “O ‘Isa (Jesus)! I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you [of the forged statement that ‘Isa (Jesus) is Allah’s son] of those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you (Monotheist, who worship none but Allah) superior to those who disbelieve [in the Oneness of Allah, or disbelieve in some of His Messengers, e.g. Muhammad, ‘Isa (Jesus), Musa (Moses), etc. (peace be upon them), or in His Holy Books, e.g. the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), The Qur’an] till the Day of Resurrection. Then you will return to Me and I will judge between you in the matters in which you used to dispute.”

“As to those who disbelieve, I will punish them with a severe torment in this world and in the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers.”

(Qur’an, Al-‘Imran 3:52-56)

As the above verses indicate Jesus was raised to heaven before he died. This means that according to the Qur’an he was not crucified. It was the plan of the enemies of Jesus (peace be upon him) to put him to death on the cross, but God saved him and somebody else was crucified. This plot and the false accusation about Mary are considered by the Qur’an to be some of the sins of the non-believing Jews. All of this is made clear in the following verses (which is translated as follows):

“And because of their (Jews) disbelief and uttering against Maryam (Mary) a grave false charge (that she has committed illegal sexual intercourse);”

“And because of their saying (in boast), “We killed Messiah ‘Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah,” – but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of ‘Isa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not [i.e. ‘Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam [Mary]:”

“But Allah raised him [‘Isa (Jesus)] up (with his body and soul) unto Himself (and he (peace be upon him) is in the heaven). And Allah is ever All-Powerful, All-Wise.”

“And there is none of the people of the scripture (Jews and Christians), but must believe in him [‘Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), as only a Messenger of Allah and a human being], before his [‘Isa (Jesus) or a Jews or a Christian’s] death (at the time of the appearance of the angel of death). And on the Day of Resurrection, he [‘Isa (Jesus)] will be a witness against them.”

(Qur’an, An-Nisa 4:156-159)

Finally, we testify that there is no God except Allah and there is none worthy of worship except Him, He has no partners, Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger, and that ‘Isa (Jesus) son of Mary is Allah’s slave, His Messenger, His word (Be! and he was) which he bestowed on Mary and a spirit created by Him. We believe that all Prophets are brothers no different between their religion, which is one religion “Al-Islam”. We attest that the Paradise is true, the Hell-fire is true, and God will Resurrect mankind from graves. Allah says in The Qur’an (which is translated as follows):

“He (Allah) has ordained for you the same religion (Islam) which He ordained for Nuh (Noah), and that which We have inspired in you (O Muhammad) and that which We ordained for Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses) and ‘Isa (Jesus) saying you should establish religion (i.e. to do what it orders you to do practically), and make no divisions in it (religion) (i.e. various sects in religion). Intolerable for the Polytheist, pagans and idolaters is that to which you (O Muhammad) call them. Allah chooses for Himself who He wills, and guides unto Himself who turns to Him in repentance and in obedience.”

(Qur’an, Ash-Shura 42:13)

This is our message and we will be witnesses against you in the day of Judgement that we conveyed the message of truth and left it up to you, to follow the truth or stay in darkness. The Almighty Allah said in the Qur’an (which is translated as follows):

“Allah! La Ilaha Illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who Sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber, nor sleep overtake him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Kursi (a footstool or chair) extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.”

“There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in worship other than the real God (Allah), and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.”

(Qur’an, Al-Baqarah 2:255-256)

BREAKING : More than 100 people feared buried in China landslide

0

Around 40 homes buried as mountainside collapses in Maoxian County, Sichuan province after rain triggers landslide.

More than 100 people are feared buried after rain triggered a landslide in south-western China, state media reported on Saturday.

Around 40 homes were buried in Maoxian County in Sichuan province, the Xinhua news agency reported.

The landslide hit the village of Xinmo at around 6 am (2200 GMT Friday), according to Xinhua.

Homes in the village of Xinmo were swallowed by the cascading debris after the side of a mountain collapsed, blocking a two kilometre stretch of river, said Xinhua – citing local officials.

An emergency response “to the first class catastrophic geological disaster” is under way, the statement said, adding that the full extent of the landslide was at yet unclear.

China has been experiencing weeks of heavy summer rains that often cause flooding and trigger landslides in rural and mountainous regions.

At least 12 people were killed in January when a landslide smashed into a hotel in central Hubei province.

In October landslides battered eastern China in the wake of torrential rains brought by Typhoon Megi, causing widespread damage and killing at least eight.

Saudi-led demands not 'reasonable or actionable': Qatar

0

Doha says it is reviewing a document issued by Saudi-led bloc of Arab countries and preparing ‘an appropriate response’.

Qatar said it had received a list of demands from “siege countries” [Ted Regencia/Al Jazeera]

Qatar has dismissed a list of demands submitted by four Arab nations as neither reasonable or actionable.

“This list of demands confirms what Qatar has said from the beginning – the illegal blockade has nothing to do with combatting terrorism, it is about limiting Qatar’s sovereignty, and outsourcing our foreign policy,” said Sheikh Saif bin Ahmed Al Thani, director of the Qatari government’s communications office, in a statement on Friday.

“The US Secretary of State recently called upon the blockading nations to produce a list of grievances that was ‘reasonable and actionable’. The British Foreign Secretary asked that the demands be ‘measured and realistic.’ This list does not satisfy that criteria,” added the statement.

Qatar says it is reviewing the demands and is preparing an official response after confirming the receipt of a document containing demands from several Arab countries that cut ties with it and imposed a blockade against it earlier this month amid a major diplomatic crisis.

The list was received by Qatar’s ministry of foreign affairs on June 22, the state-run Qatar News Agency reported early on Saturday.

“The state of Qatar is currently studying this paper, the demands contained therein and the foundations on which they were based, in order to prepare an appropriate response to it and hand it over to the state of Kuwait,” QNA said, citing a statement by the ministry of foreign affairs.

Meshal bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar’s ambassador to the US, also criticised the list of demands.

List of demands

Kuwait has been acting as a mediator to defuse the crisis that erupted on June 5 when Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Egypt announced they were severing relations with Qatar, accusing it of supporting “terrorism”.

The four countries have not provided any evidence, and Qatar has repeatedly denied the allegations as baseless.

Earlier on Friday, reports emerged that the Saudi-led bloc had given Qatar a 10 days to comply with 13 demands, which included shutting down the Al Jazeera Media Network, closing a Turkish military base and scaling down ties with Iran.

In the document, the countries also demanded that Qatar sever all alleged ties with the Muslim Brotherhood and with other groups, including Hezbollah, al-Qaeda and ISIL (also known as ISIS).

The document also states that Qatar must consent to monthly compliance audits in the first year after agreeing to the demands, followed by quarterly audits in the second year, and annual audits in the following 10 years.

The list also includes a demand that Qatar pay reparations and compensation for loss of life and other financial losses allegedly caused by Qatar’s policies in recent years.

The document did not specify what the countries will do if Qatar refuses to comply.

Amir Handjani, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, told Al Jazeera that the demands are a “non-starter”.

“This is a very aggressive position that the Saudi-coalition is taking. I think it’s an opening gambit in a long, protracted negotiation,” he said.

“The Saudis are signalling to the Qataris that they are willing to dig in. And I think the Qataris are not going to cave. So I expect tensions to rise.”

Handjani said that the demands amounted to a request that Qatar gives up its sovereignty.

“I am sure as temperatures rise, other countries such as the United States, the UK, the French – who have longstanding ties with the GCC countries … will step in and try and play a mediating role,” he said.

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have foiled a “terrorist action” targeting the Grand Mosque in Mecca, according to officials.

The Saudi interior ministry said in a statement on Friday that a man who planned to attack the mosque blew himself up when security forces surrounded a house in Mecca where he was hiding.

At least 11 people, including five policemen, were wounded in the collapse of a three-storey building where the suspect had barricaded himself, the ministry said.

Five other people, including one woman, were detained during the operation, it added.

Muslims from around the world converge to Mecca this time of the year for the conclusion of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Since late 2014, Saudi Arabia has faced periodic bombings and shootings claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group.

Purported images from the scene that circulated on social media showed an alley filled with bricks and other debris apparently from a blast.

Video showed what appeared to be a man’s head lying among rubble from a collapsed structure.

Four people were killed last year days before the end of Ramadan in an explosion close to Islam’s second holiest site, the Prophet’s Mosque, in the city of Medina,

It was one of three suicide blasts around the kingdom on the same day, and which the US Central Intelligence Agency said bore the hallmarks of ISIL.

When is Eid al-Fitr this year?

0

Muslim countries will be sighting the Eid moon on June 24, but astronomers predict it invisible in most of Asia.

EXPECTED EID AL-FITR DATES

  • Turkey, USA, Europe: June 25
  • Bangladesh, Pakistan: June 26
  • New moon birth: June 24
  • Holidays from June 16

This year, Saturday will be the 29th day of Ramadan for Saudi Arabia and the 33 countries that started observing the fasting month on May 27.

These countries will be on the lookout for the Eid moon that evening. If it is sighted, the first day of Eid al-Fitr will be observed on Sunday, June 25. Otherwise, Ramadan fasting will carry on for 30 days and Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday, June 26.

Astronomers calculated that the new moon birth will be on Saturday, June 24 at 02:31 GMT. The moon crescent visibility, however, depends on the sighting location and on meteorological conditions.

Visibility of the crescent moon on June 24 using the Yallop criterion [UK Hydrographic Office]

On June 24, the moon is set to be visible with the naked eye in Peru, Ecuador, and islands in the Pacific Ocean.

It is also expected to be visible with optical aids in other parts of Latin America, in parts of the United States and in parts of Africa.

Turkey, as well as Muslim communities in Australia, Europe, and North America ( ISNA), are set to observe Eid al-Fitr from Sunday, based on the astronomical calculation that the new moon will be born on Saturday.

Bangladesh, India and Pakistan started Ramadan on May 28 and therefore will be on the lookout for the Eid moon on Sunday, June 25.

On June 25, the moon is expected to be visible with the naked eye all over the world.

At the International Hijri Calendar Unity Congress held in Istanbul in May 2016, members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation voted in favour of adopting a unified lunar calendar.

However, local sighting continues to be the default policy in each country.

Local greetings

Eid Mubarak in Arabic means “blessed celebration” and is a common greeting for Eid al-Fitr. Other greetings include:

– Ciid wanaagsan – as used in Somalia.

– Mutlu Bayramlar – as commonly used in Turkey.

– Selamat Idul Fitri – used in Indonesia.

– Selamat Hari Raya – is used in Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore.

– Barka da Sallah – as used in some parts of Nigeria.

Eid festival

Eid al-Fitr means “festival of breaking the fast” and marks the end of Ramadan. Eid is an official holiday in all Muslim-majority countries, but the number of days varies by country.

In 2016, Eid al-Fitr was celebrated on July 6, and in the UK, an Eid food festival was held in Trafalgar Square on Saturday, July 9.

"God Has Appointed Me His Special Adviser And His 4th In Command, I Am Next Only To Jesus And Holy Ghost", Prophet Talent Madungwe

0

God Has Appointed Me His Special Adviser And His 4th In Command, I Am Next Only To Jesus And Holy Ghost, Only 60 People In This Country Will Go To Heaven, We Hold Meetings Regularly On How The World Should Be Governed Says Man Of God Prophet Talent Madungwe As He Fires The Father Of All Bombs (FOAB)

Prophet Talent Madungwe, a Zimbabwean man of God, has shocked his compatriots with the claim that he is God’s special adviser and meets with the almighty on a regular basis to make decisions on how the world should be governed.

According to iHarare, the controversial prophet also told his congregation that he is God’s number four after Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit because he is the most righteous person in his country where only 60 people will go to heaven.

The self-proclaimed God’s advisor also claimed that even Angel Michael and Angel Gabriel come after him on the righteousness scale as he and God are the best of friends.

Prophet Madungwe was quoted as telling his members that he was with God recently where they had a very long discussion on what will happen to the world and when asked to show a proof of the meeting by way of photographs, he was said to have replied that it was not possible to have pictures with God.

“You can’t have pictures of God, the cameras will not function. He came to me in physical form on April 30, 2017. Only 60 people are righteous in this country and among those, only a few of the popular prophets are among the list.
I cannot reveal the names I came fourth because I performed better than the others. Performance is judged monthly. In April, I saw God and he ordained me to be his advisor; He told me when the world will come to an end.
God told me that if all people repent, the world will come to an end in 300 years but if not, then it will be 100 years. I will have a meeting with Him and tell him if people are repenting because he has put me in charge of advising Him on matters concerning the world. This will be in five years.”

Madungwe who claims to have had meetings with God over 20 times this year alone, also described Heaven look like, adding that the earth is the photocopy of heaven with the only difference being that heaven is built with gold.

"Take Evans (the kidnapper) to Pastor T.B Joshua" says Evans' Father

0

Stephen Onwuamadike, father of billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudubem Onwuamadike, a.k.a Evans on Friday reacted to claim by his son that he gave him N3 million and a Sports Utility Vehicle, SUV.

Stephen dismissed his son’s claim as false, urging security operatives to take him to Prophet T.B Joshua for deliverance before any other thing.

Evans had told reporters last weekend when he took detectives to one of the dens where his gang used for the detention of victims on Green Street, Jakande Estate, Isolo, Lagos that he gave his father the gifts.

He had said, “Before I stopped going home, I gave my father N3million and I bought him a jeep and pick up van.

“I believe that part of the money I gave him was what he used to establish the piggery business.

“Had it been my father had taken good care of me, I wouldn’t have become what I am today.”

However, Stephen told The Nation that nothing could have been farther from the truth than the allegation by his son.

He said in his Nnewi, Anambra State home, “If he insists that he gave me money, they should ask him when and how he brought the money to me, whether through the bank or through anybody.

“I have been in poverty in Nnewi here and feeding has been a problem for me and somebody, somewhere said he gave me N3million.Where is the money or any sign of it in this house?

“Money does not hide, I feed myself and my mother with this small piggery I’m running, while my mother engages in buying of goats to keep body and soul together even at her old age”

“My son should stop talking of things that are impossible and pray to God for forgiveness. I have never been in support of bad things in life and will never engage in such at this age.”

Onwumadike (snr) also disputed claim by Evans that he has herbalists in Nnewi (one of whom, according to him, is a traditional ruler) who were preparing charms for him.

“Security operatives should take him to Pastor T.B Joshua for deliverance before any other thing, but he should stop dropping names”, he said.

Twitter users hit back with humour at Saudi-bloc's list of demands

Twitter users react with humour and own document of grievances, in response to Riyadh and its allies’ list of demands.

Social media users have hit back with humour and their own list of grievances after reports emerged that Saudi Arabia and its allies issued a list of demands.

Almost immediately after the Saudi-led bloc’s 13-point list of demands was made public on Friday, some Twitter users began posting their reactions under the hashtag “the list is refused”.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain cut ties with Qatar on June 5 over allegations the country funds “terrorism” and is too close to Iran – allegations Qatar has repeatedly denied.

Their steep list of demands, published by news agencies on Friday, includes calls on Qatar to shut down Al Jazeera Media Network, close a Turkish military base, scale down ties with Iran, and pay an unspecified sum in compensation.

Qatar now has 10 days to comply, according to the reports.

U have NOTHING on Qatar and ur list shows u dont want to solve the issue.Plz go to ur room n dont come out till we tell u to

“Qatar refuses Saudi and the Emirates’ conditions and answers them with this voice message,” wrote one Twitter user, embedding a man singing an old Gulf song, asking his wife to “take your bag of clothes and leave my house for good” and telling her she has a “long tongue”, implying she talks too much.

Other Twitter users circulated a humourous list of counter demands for both the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

السياسة السعودية عبر تاريخها كانت تندد وترفض التدخل بالشؤون الداخلية … والان يتدخلون في شؤون قطر

The “counter demands” for the UAE included the expulsion of 800,000 Iranians, the expulsion of exiled former head of the Palestinian Authority’s security services in Gaza Mohammed Dahlan and “Egyptian and Jordanian security mercenaries”, and a halt of support for renegade Libyan general Khalifa Haftar.

The Twitter list also included demands for the UAE to pull out of southern Yemen, to allow international human rights groups into its prisons, to close its Sky News Arabia broadcaster, and to disclose all secret relations with Iran.

The “counter demands” for Saudi Arabia included the closure of its Al-Arabiya broadcaster and its Middle East and Eilaf newspapers; the expulsion of ousted Tunisian president Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali, who fled and sought refuge in Saudi Arabia, back to Tunisia; the publication of the names of thousands of Saudis who went to fight in Iraq and Syria; the disclosure of royal family and government money funneled into the wars in Iraq and Syria; the cancellation of the $450m arms deal with US President Donald Trump; and the allowance of Qatari organisations to help the poor in Saudi Arabia.

Other Twitter users countered the list of demands with their own demand to see evidence connected to the charges against Qatar.

“Practicing dictatorship on your people is one thing, and practicing it against a nation and brotherly people is another,” wrote Twitter user Hamad Ali al-Muhande.

“I think the intent of the list is to force Qatar out of the council,” he said, referring to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

“Childish colonial demands to turn the Emir of Qatar from an independent ruler to a governor employed by Al Saud to run Qatar,” wrote Mustafa al-Jamaye, in reaction to the list.

Muneer al-Jallude wrote: “The owners of the list of demands from Qatar are either stupid or fools or arrogant, and I think they are probably a combination of all three.”

In an attempt to portray Qatari reactions to the Saudi-bloc’s list of demands, one Twitter user posted video of a child giggling.

..طفل بس سمع بمطالب القايمة ……… أبلغ رد ……..

Another Twitter user posted a video of a man attempting to order a chicken sandwich with complex instructions and a diagram, writing: “In the name of God, the demands have arrived.”

Arab states issue list of demands to end Qatar crisis

0

Saudi and other Arab nations ask Qatar to shut Al Jazeera, close a Turkish base and scale down Iran ties within 10 days.

Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries that have cut ties to Qatar have reportedly issued a list of demands to end a major Gulf crisis, insisting that Qatar shut down the Al Jazeera network, close a Turkish military base and scale down ties with Iran.

In the 13-point list, the countries also demand that Qatar sever all alleged ties with the Muslim Brotherhood and with other groups, including Hezbollah, al-Qaeda and ISIL (also known as ISIS).

Associated Press and Reuters news agencies reported they obtained the list from unnamed officials from one of the countries involved in isolating Qatar.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain cut ties to Qatar this month over allegations that the country funds “terrorism” – an accusation that Qatar denies.

Those countries have now given Qatar 10 days to comply with all of the demands, which also include paying an unspecified sum in compensation for what they claimed to be “loss of life and other financial losses caused by Qatar’s policies”.

According to the list, Qatar must refuse to naturalise citizens from the four countries and “revoke Qatari citizenship for existing nationals where such citizenship violates those countries’ laws”.

Earlier this week, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson insisted that Qatar’s neighbours provide a list of demands that was “reasonable and actionable”.

The Iran provisions in the document say Qatar must shut down diplomatic posts in Iran, expel any members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, and only conduct trade and commerce with Iran that complies with US sanctions.

The demands regarding Al Jazeera state that Qatar must also shut down all affiliates and other news outlets that Qatar funds, including Arabi21, Rassd, Al Araby Al Jadeed and Middle East Eye.

If Qatar agrees to comply, the list asserts that it will be audited once a month for the first year, and then once per quarter in the second year after it takes effect.

For the following 10 years, Qatar would be monitored annually for compliance.

The document does not specify what the countries will do if Qatar refuses to comply.

List of demands by Saudi Arabia, other Arab nations

1) Scale down diplomatic ties with Iran and close the Iranian diplomatic missions in Qatar, expel members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and cut off military and intelligence cooperation with Iran. Trade and commerce with Iran must comply with US and international sanctions in a manner that does not jeopardise the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

2) Immediately shut down the Turkish military base, which is currently under construction, and halt military cooperation with Turkey inside of Qatar.

MARWAN BISHARA, AL JAZEERA’S SENIOR POLITICAL ANALYST:

Clearly, there is an insult here. It is not just a question of demands.

The tone of these demands, the underlining approach, not only shows total ignorance of international relations and a lack of understanding what state sovereignty means, but it also goes to the heart of the lack of coherence and preparation for putting a document like this together by the four countries.

This could be, for some who are supportive of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the start of the negotiation position, if you will. That this is the starting bid and now Qatar could counter bid.But to be honest, I don’t think that’s even a starting bid.

The US state department had made it clear that this [list with demands] needs to be reasonable, actionable and there have to be facts. There has to be evidence provided and of course there is no evidence provided.

What we know here is that this has nothing to do with “terrorism”.

When they talk about “terrorism”, this is something that Qatar doesn’t do. Qatar has made it clear throughout that it does not support Fateh al-Sham that it does not support ISIL, that it doesn’t support al-Qaeda and so forth. If you accuse it of doing so then you have to provide evidence.

The Muslim Brotherhood is not considered a terrorist organisation by England, by the United States and by most countries around the world.

This document shows these four countries are not interested in a solution to the crisis. What they are asking for is a complete and total humiliating surrender by Qatar of its sovereignty. That is not going to happen.

This is counter revolution 2.0. This is the second phase of the attack on the Arab spring and what’s left of it which is very little.

3) Sever ties to all “terrorist, sectarian and ideological organisations,” specifically the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIL, al-Qaeda, Fateh Al-Sham (formerly known as the Nusra Front) and Lebanon’s Hezbollah. Formally declare these entities as terror groups as per the list announced by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE and Egypt, and concur with all future updates of this list.

4) Stop all means of funding for individuals, groups or organisations that have been designated as terrorists by Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Bahrain, US and other countries.

5) Hand over “terrorist figures,” fugitives and wanted individuals from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Bahrain to their countries of origin. Freeze their assets, and provide any desired information about their residency, movements and finances.

6) Shut down Al Jazeera and its affiliate stations.

7) End interference in sovereign countries’ internal affairs. Stop granting citizenship to wanted nationals from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Bahrain. Revoke Qatari citizenship for nationals where such citizenship violates those countries’ laws.

8) Pay reparations and compensation for loss of life and other financial losses caused by Qatar’s policies in recent years. The sum will be determined in coordination with Qatar.

9) Align Qatar’s military, political, social and economic policies with the other Gulf and Arab countries, as well as on economic matters, as per the 2014 agreement reached with Saudi Arabia.

10) Cease contact with the political opposition in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Bahrain. Hand over files detailing Qatar’s prior contact with and support for opposition groups, and submit details of their personal information and the support Qatar has provided them.

11) Shut down all news outlets funded directly and indirectly by Qatar, including Arabi21, Rassd, Al Araby Al Jadeed, Mekameleen and Middle East Eye, etc.

12) Agree to all the demands within 10 days of list being submitted to Qatar, or the list will become invalid.

13) Consent to monthly compliance audits in the first year after agreeing to the demands, followed by quarterly audits in the second year, and annual audits in the following 10 years.

Turkey’s Defence Minister Fikri Isik said his country had no plans to review its military base in Qatar and that any demand for its closure would represent interference in the country’s relations with the Gulf state.

Isik told broadcaster NTV that he had not yet seen a demand for the base to be shut.

“The base in Qatar is both a Turkish base and one that will preserve the security of Qatar and the region,” Isik said in an interview on Friday.

“Re-evaluating the base agreement with Qatar is not on our agenda.”

INTERFERENCE IN SOVEREIGNTY

Al Jazeera’s Hashem Ahelbarra said the list is “definitely going to be rejected by Qatar”.

“Qatar has said it will only look into the demands once the sanctions are lifted,” he said, adding that Qatar had already said that closing Al Jazeera was off the table.

“It is a matter of national sovereignty. Anything that is presented to the Qataris which it considers to be interference in its internal affairs is going to be dismissed,” Ahelbarra said.

“Just yesterday the general sentiment we had was that perhaps the international community and GCC will turn toward restoring ties. But at this particular moment, I believe that there will be further escalation, mounting tension because of these demands.

“Specifically, this demand on compensation takes the region into unchartered territory. To ask for compensation, you have to have the Qatari government say; ‘Sorry, I’ve made mistakes’, and look into every single instance where Qataris made mistakes.

“This is unprecedented in the Arab world. What if the Qataris say the Saudis have to pay compensation for every single civilian killed or innocent life taken all over the world. This is really surreal,” Ahelbarra added.

Why Are We Here?

0

Zero plus Zero plus Zero can not possibly ever give you One!

Study the Embryo and tell me how did we get here?

And we will die and turn to bones soon!

Oh! You forget so soon that you yourself will be sufficient to account for your own deeds?

So you live your life as if you own your soul?

OH! hungry little kids in the street, I feel your pain, i give the little I have and I wish I have all it takes to take you off the street and clean you up.

I cry when i wake up from my room and see you shivering under no roof, under hot sun you walk around with barefoot and the pain I can’t help but cry!

Yet, some have the means and the luxuries of life, money; no problem and the only thing they think about is to club, smoke, gamble and flirt!

Well, I have just one last word of reminder for you, you have everything under control today, remember the day you will become subject of control.

Yes, you bath by yourself today, remember the day you will be taken and be washed!

You have gotten possibly the best bed where you sleep, remember the day you will become a stain on your own bed and you will be laid flat on the floor!

You build some mansions and you can only occupy a room in this house of yours, yet thousands of poor innocent souls are out there with nowhere to hide their heads, you careless.

Soon, you will be taken off this mansion of yours and a new abode {grave} will be constructed carelessly by those who couldn’t clean your shoes while you were still breathing and this is where you will be buried!

See, you have the best of tailors who give you the best of designs with costly materials to show, yet you never bother to give the abandoned clothes of yours to that poor innocent looking person close to you who can manages to wear rag.

Soon, just one white piece of clothe will become your best attire as you head in down the grave!

Oh Ya Allahu, indeed, we know this world is but like a prison for the true believers, but again Robana Aatuna Fidunya Aasanatan Wa Fil Airat Asanatan Wakina Asaaba Nnaari.

Allahuma Ihdinas Siratal Mustaqeem.
