This morning, a brother asked them to send him verses that were omitted from the New World Translation of the Bible (NWT). I sent him a link to a website created for the purpose of writing against the Jehovah’s witnesses. http://avoidjw.org/en/holy-bible/missing-verses/
These are the missing verses;
Matthew 17:21; 18:11; 23:14; Mark 7:16; 9:44, 46; 11:26; 15:28; Luke 17:36; 23:17; John 5:4; Acts 8:37; 15:34; 24:7; 28:29; and Romans 16:24.
Making reference to the omission in the Jehovah’s witnesses’ Bible, the author wrote, “If this is true, then the verses found at Deuteronomy 4:2 and Revelation 22:19 need careful consideration by each member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.”
Here is what Deuteronomy 4:2 says,
“Deuteronomy 4
[2]You shall not add to the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.”
And Revelation 22:19;
“Revelation 22
[19]And if anyone cancels or takes away from the statements of the book of this prophecy [these predictions relating to Christ’s kingdom and its speedy triumph, together with the consolations and admonitions or warnings pertaining to them], God will cancel and take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the city of holiness (purity and hallowedness), which are described and promised in this book.”
The author was out to just attack Jehovah’s witnesses without talking about their mess. If revelation 22:19 talks about taking away from the book, how about Revelation 22:18 and Deuteronomy 4:2 that talks about adding to the word of God?
The verses in Revelation 22:18-19, are they about the whole Bible or just the book of revelation? If it is about the Bible, are the protestants not cursed for removing 7 books termed apocryphal books from their own Bible but present in the Catholic Bible?
Like protestants like Jehovah’s witnesses. What if those are also apocryphal verses? (lol). Jehovah’s witnesses did not remove anything from the book of revelation but if the argument is that the verses talk about the whole Bible, are they not also guilty of removing some books from their Bible. Moreover, Jehovah witnesses did not claim to have removed verses that were in the original manuscript but they removed what was added!!!
The author of the article is pointless and was just raising a false alarm against the JW. At the end of the article, he wrote in the footnote;
“This article does not discuss Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society‘s allegation that these omitted verses from their bible are additions to manuscripts by copyists.”
What then should be discussed if not this. Their grievances is that Jehovah’s witnesses omitted some verses from their, anything written against it should be centered on why it was removed and why it should not be removed. NWT is not in this alone, RSV is involved too.
Until the reason why JW omitted these verses from the NWT is addressed, their argument is still valid that the verses they omitted are additions to manuscripts by the copyists. If Revelation 22:19 is a curse on Jehovah’s witnesses, then Revelation 22:18 is a curse on other protestant Bibles.
This is a refutation to an article which is a propaganda against Jehovah’s witnesses.
