Williams was executed by lethal injection at 6 p.m. CT at Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre, Missouri, USA. His last statement, which was written down and witnessed on September 24, 2024, was, “All Praise Be To Allah In Every Situation!!!”
Williams was charged with the murder of Felicia Gayle in 1998 based on the testimonies of two witnesses, claiming that Williams had confessed to the crime. Williams was sentenced to death in August 2001. During his stay on death row, it was noted that the DNA found at the crime scene did not match that of Williams, leading to calls for his execution to be stopped.
Williams was already serving a 50 year sentence for an unrelated robbery when he was sentenced to death on August 27, 2001, by St. Louis County Circuit Judge Emmett M. O’Brien.
Until his death, Williams maintained his innocence. Despite petitions and lack of substantial evidence, Williams was executed.
Two lessons:
– Allah is the best of Judges and both the Judge and the Judged will face him someday.
– As a youth, live a clean life. Some will be lucky that their pasts won’t affect them before and after they change, for some others, the past will always count.
While there is injustice everywhere, a man who is already serving a 50-year jail term cannot be easily exonerated from allegations of murder especially when his girlfriend is a witness against him.
May Almighty forgive brother Williams and grant him Jannah. Aameen
