The Messenger ﷺ of Allah said: ” When hope and fear come together in the heart of a slave, Allah will give that person what he hopes and makes him safe from what he is afraid of.” (Tirmidhi)
It is imperative by every second to remember the important connection between a slave of Allah and his Lord. Self-talking and counseling oneself for reminding the bounties he’s gifted by Allah, and also rectifying the weaknesses between him and his Lord.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also affirmed that Allah said:
“My mercy prevails over My wrath.”
When a Muslim finally affirms in his heart and countenance that fearing Allah’s punishment, and also being hopeful for the forgiveness of all of his sins is the balance and midway he aims for, a believer’s life will be productively boosted and hereafter-inclined towards Jannah (by Allah’s will). Ultimately increasing the fear of Allah in his heart and hoping for his boundless mercy, forgiveness, and tranquility that exceeds imaginable reach.
The afterlife, the day of judgment, the hell, the stages in the grave, one needs to multiply contemplating these realities on a day-to-day basis to charge one’s subconsciousness by the fear of the creator hence one will find it easy to run from iniquities and embrace righteousness always.
The company one keeps is also a way to strengthen one’s relationship and bond with Almighty Allaah. One needs to keep his head straight and guide his family and friends to the beacon of light. This chain reaction will ensure that we all never lose track of our foundations of Eemaan, strengthening our taqwa and enveloping fear of Allah and hope for His kindness in our hearts, ultimately fulfilling our purpose in this life.
The heart and soul of a believer are occupied with the fear of Allaah, a fear so strong that he holds himself from all the things that are Islamically forbidden or evil. It is this fear of our Lord that makes him chant Istighfar always over his known and unknown sins.
Together the fear of Allah and the love for Him give rise to a wonderful bond with the Almighty, a relationship so sacred that you don’t let anything come in between. This becomes the key to your success in this life and the next, where you have it all figured out on how to spend the days and nights.
Allah says in Surah Al-Isra, verse 57:
Quran Surah Al-Isra 17-57
‘˹Even˺ the closest ˹to Allah˺ of those invoked would be seeking a way to their Lord, hoping for His mercy, and fearing His punishment. Indeed, your Lord’s torment is fearsome.’ (17:57)
Notably, the interrelationship between the hope for His goodness and the fear of His wrath is to be considered by all Muslims always, as this is the ideal way a believer should live by.
