Bashir Lucas Samson Lukman :
AlhamduliLlahi Rabbil ‘Alameen! All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. He who created man from nothing but man does not think that he was at a time a thing not mentioned of. Exalting Allah, Ali bin Abi Talhah reported from Ibn Abbas,
– “He is the Master Who is perfect in His sovereignty,
– the Most Noble Who is perfect in His nobility,
the Most Magnificent Who is perfect in His magnificence,
– the Most Forbearing Who is perfect in His forbearance,
– the All-Knowing Who is perfect in His knowledge, and
– the Most Wise Who is perfect in His wisdom.
– He is the One Who is perfect in all aspects of nobility and authority. He is Allah, glory be unto Him. These attributes are not befitting anyone other than Him. He has no coequal and nothing is like Him. Glory be to Allah, the One, the Irresistible.”
On the 6th of August, 2017, I had a very terrible accident that claimed five lives instantly.SubhanAllah! I remember that I was to travel to Abuja to deliver a lecture that same week but after the accident, I became conscious a week after to realize that I had an accident.
It is the most terrible thing I have seen in my life. As I was told, FRSC refused to carry me because they thought there was no hope, thanks to some policemen who rushed me to the hospital after losing lots of blood coming out from my mouth, nose, ear and eyes.
As I was told, I was taken to Ibadan for a brain scan immediately and while inside the ambulance, I was saying complete jargon even tore a brother’s cloth. SubhanAllah.
I don’t know where to start the thanks so I’ll just make it collective. How can I thank those who were with me when I was rushed to the hospital and because of my unconsciousness, they had to deal with me designing their body with my fingernails, maybe because I was asked not to eat and drink for about seven days and that added to the uncontrollable anger.
One should visit the hospital once in a while to know how merciful Allah is. In my ward, two people’s legs have been amputated with one of them placed on oxygen. That orthopedic ward that people come out from deformed.
My left leg was fractured in two different places and my right arm was also fractured. The nerves on my right check was drastically weakened if not dead making it impossible for me to close or blink my left eye, my mouth cannot shift to the left, everything was done with the right cheek, the left ear will make noise like! SubhanAllah! Allah was indeed merciful. If the Neurosurgeon was right, he said my Facial palsy was Grade V which means severe dysfunction in grading Bell’s Palsy. Alhamdulillah, what we thought would take years to resolve did within five months.
AlhamduliLlahi Rabbil ‘Alameen, everything is resolved and I’m back. Though I’m still going to the hospital, and will have another surgery in two years to remove some implants in my hand and leg, In shaa Allah; I can now get engaged in things I used to do before save playing soccer. 😂
I cannot start to mention names, I just pray that Allah rewards everyone abundantly and make us die as Muslims submitting to the will of Allah. Ameen.
Though the accident was not caused by them, I cannot stop to wonder how some people will celebrate such not knowing what awaits then the next minute. And of their wishful thinking that I’ll find Jesus after the accident, I found Jesus was a Muslim and he is no more than a Muslim, a slave of Allah that he was, is and will always be.
Allah says, “Do we say we believe without being tested?”. Even you don’t need to be a Muslim to calamities to happen as Calamities, Cries, death are natural phenomena that respects no one regardless of their religion. They wish that you join them in their disbelief that us why when bad things happen to people of their own faith, they bring the story of Sarah, Jabez, David etc but when it happens to others, Jesus is responsible for their woes only for then to come the next minute to say God does not bring calamity.
Thanks to my beautiful Physiotherapist, Dr. Ruqayyat Bello (OAUTHC) and her team. They attended to me specially and were so patient with me not minding how ridiculous, curious, inquisitive and stubborn I was. At Wesley Hospital, Ilesha, Osun state, I was referred by the Orthopedic to the Neurosurgeon in Ife (OAUTHC) who later referred me to the Ophthalmologist, Otologist and Physiotherapist. I was asked to come back to Iléṣà after 6 weeks so I can start to practise how to walk, before the six weeks, I was seeing the physiotherapist and instead of going to Iléṣà on a wheelchair when the sixth week came, I walked to the hospital. Alhamdulillah.
So, the first time I know there’s something like NHIS was when I got to the hospital o. We spent roughly 3 million naira+ and that was because Allah was merciful enough for us to have gotten the NHIS hence just 10% of whatever I was to buy in the hospital.
Meanwhile, some people are sending me messages that I offended them, even someone went as far deleting my number and my brother’s. I was not picking calls and anyone who was with him at the hospital will never advise me to pick calls or reply messages. I woke up to about 53,000 WhatsApp messages, I just had to discard all!
Alhamdulillah, everything is resolved only for the next surgery after two years, In shaa Allah. Those who saw me in Lagos thought it was over exaggerated because there was no indication of an accident, Alhamdulillah! Not deformed the least.
Aim to walk with the tight squad and may Allah give us the right squad. I thank the entire ACADIP family home and abroad for their support in all sense. I can’t mention names else I’ll need to make this appreciation a book.
However, I cannot but mention Mallam Yusuf Adepoju (Chief lecturer, ACADIP). No support matters to me more than your effort in not making those pictures of me on the hospital bed getting on social media and how we were able to avoid disclosing the name of the hospital to the public. Apart from needing to solicit, what joy do people have in posting a picture of people on hospital beds? Permit me to mention the efforts of Aare Sulaiman Abiodun, Alhaji Ganiyu Wahab Adewole, Alhaja Sonaiya, Alhaja Arogundade, Alhaji Adebayo (UK), Dr Nasirudeen, Alhaji Zunurean and the entire knowislam.com.ng crew.
May Allah preserve Alhaji Isola Adepoju on khayr and his entire house. Ameen. As for Olowosoke Yetunde and my brother, Lukman Samuel Ridwan who stayed with me throughout the five months, only Allah can reward you both. Ameen. Even when I wanted to go, they’d offered to move around with me but Alhamdulillah, I’m fine.
One day, we all will die and when we die, we would not be paying a price but an inevitable event. From Allah we come, to him is our return. In 2015, I had about 6-7 accidents, and many people have died, is your saviour killing themfir not practicing your religion?
Oh Muslims!!! Hold fast to the rope of Allah. Indeed, with every difficulty, there is ease and we will surely be tested with wealth, hunger, poverty, loss of wealth, lives etc.
