All praise belongs to Allāh, Ar-Raḥmān, the Most Merciful, who allowed us to witness Ramadan and carried us through its days and nights. May peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.
Ramadan is ending.
And the heart feels it.
There is a certain heaviness… a quiet ache at the departure of something beloved.
A guest we prepared for.
A month we lived through.
A season in which, bi idhnillāh, we grew.
And now it leaves.
Almost as though it is testing what remains of us after it is gone.

A Moment of Gratitude Before Anything Else
Before reflection… before concern… before questions…
There must be gratitude.
Gratitude to Allāh.
The One who allowed you to reach Ramadan.
The One who carried you through it.
The One who opened doors you did not open yourself.
He is Ar-Raḥmān.
Ar-Raḥīm.
The Mender of hearts.
The One who forgives in Ramadan and beyond it.
And from His mercy is that He legislated Eid.
So that your heart is not overcome with grief.
So that the departure of Ramadan does not break you.
But instead, you meet its ending with الحمد لله.

The Lord of Ramadan Is the Lord of Every Month
One of the greatest deceptions is to treat Ramadan as something separate.
As though Allāh is only sought in these days.
But Allāh is not the Lord of Ramadan alone.
He is the Lord of every moment that follows.
He says:
وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ الْيَقِينُ
“Worship your Lord until certainty (death) comes to you.” (Al-Ḥijr: 99)
Ramadan was never the destination.
It was a means.
A return.
A reminder of where your heart truly belongs.

Ramadan Was a School
Nothing Allāh legislates is without purpose.
Every act of worship carries wisdom.
Every command leaves a trace on the one who reflects.
Ramadan was a school.
It trained your heart.
Disciplined your desires.
Brought you face to face with your weaknesses… and your need for Allāh.
Allāh says:
وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ تَنْهَىٰ عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنكَرِ
“Establish the prayer. Indeed, prayer restrains from immorality and wrongdoing.” (Al-ʿAnkabūt: 45)
And fasting carries that same purpose.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever does not abandon false speech and acting upon it, Allāh has no need for him to leave his food and drink.” (Bukhārī)
So Ramadan was not only about abstaining.
It was about becoming.

What Did You Gain?
Now ask yourself:
What did Ramadan leave within me?
Did I gain taqwā?
Did I become more aware of Allāh?
Did I begin to restrain myself where I once did not?
Because Allāh said:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ… لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
“Fasting has been prescribed for you… so that you may attain taqwā.” (Al-Baqarah: 183)
If that seed has been planted…
Then protect it.

Do Not Think It Ends Here
Say to Ramadan, as the righteous reflected:
You are only a month.
Your departure was always written.
But the acts of worship you carried…
They do not leave with you.
Do you think fasting disappears?
Do you think night prayer ends?
Do you think the Qur’an is only for these days?
No.
The One who enabled you then…
Is still your Lord now.

Do Not Break What You Built
Allāh says:
وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّتِي نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِن بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ أَنكَاثًا
“Do not be like the one who untwisted her thread after it was firmly spun…” (An-Naḥl: 92)
Ramadan was your weaving.
Every prayer.
Every fast.
Every tear.
Do not unravel it.
Even if you cannot maintain everything…
Do not let it all go.

It Was Never About Your Deeds Alone
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“None of you will enter Paradise by his deeds.”
They said: “Not even you, O Messenger of Allāh?”
He said: “Not even me, unless Allāh envelops me in His mercy.” (Bukhārī & Muslim)
So what do you rely on?
Not your deeds.
Not your رمضان.
But the mercy of Allāh.
Whatever you brought this month…
It is little.
No matter how much it seemed.
And that realization is not meant to break you.
It is meant to turn you back to Him with hope.

Hope in His Mercy
If a poor servant stood at the door of a generous king all day…
Humbled… asking… hoping…
Would he be turned away?
Then what of the One who is Al-Ghanī, the Most Rich…
Al-Karīm, the Most Generous…
And you stood before Him for an entire month?
What do you think of Him?

The Sign of Acceptance
The righteous feared that their deeds would not be accepted.
So they increased in istighfār.
Not because they did little…
But because they knew Allāh deserved more.
Allāh describes them:
وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوا وَّقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ
“Those who give what they give while their hearts are fearful…” (Al-Mu’minūn: 60)
So if you feel concerned now…
If you wonder whether it was accepted…
That concern itself is a sign of life in the heart.

Ramadan Was a Witness
Ramadan came as a witness.
And it leaves as a witness.
Its nights are recorded.
Its days are preserved.
What remains now…
Is what it made of you.
If it changed you, even slightly…
Then hold onto that.
Because the true loss is not that Ramadan has ended.
The true loss is that its أثر does not remain.

Do Not Leave Allāh
Ramadan is leaving.
But Allāh is still near.
The door you knocked on is still open.
The mercy you sought is still واسع.
So stay.
Stay turning.
Stay remembering.
Stay returning.
Even if slowly.

A Duʿā’ at the End
Yā Allāh,
You allowed us to witness Ramadan.
You allowed us to stand before You.
Accept from us what was little.
Forgive what was deficient.
Do not let our hearts turn away after You guided them.
Let what we tasted of īmān remain within us.
Make it a beginning… not an ending.
And do not make this the last Ramadan we witness.
Āmīn.

Ramadan is departing.
But let your heart remain.
With the One who never departs.
