For years, a dominant narrative has shaped global conversations around religious conversion: that individuals who convert to Christianity, particularly from Muslim backgrounds, face severe persecution, social isolation, and even threats to their lives.
While such cases may exist, what is often ignored—if not entirely overlooked—is the reality faced by those who embrace Islam.
Across different regions, many Muslim reverts endure rejection, emotional trauma, financial hardship, and, in some cases, serious threats from family and society. Yet, unlike other narratives that receive widespread attention, these stories remain largely undocumented and underreported.
This lack of documentation has led to a dangerous assumption: that the struggles of Muslim reverts are rare or insignificant.
The truth is far from that.
The Documentation Gap
One of the biggest challenges in advocating for Muslim reverts is the absence of structured, verifiable records. When questions are raised—“Where is the evidence?”—the response often falls short, not because the cases do not exist, but because they have not been systematically documented.
Many incidents are shared privately, handled quietly, or resolved without any public record. As a result, the collective reality of these experiences remains invisible to the wider world.
A New Policy for Transparency and Advocacy
In response to this gap, the KnowIslam Project is introducing a major shift in its approach to revert support and advocacy.
Going forward, every case of assistance provided to Muslim reverts will be documented and, with their full consent, shared on the KnowIslam Reverts Corner YouTube channel.
This initiative will:
- Create a verifiable archive of real-life experiences
- Raise awareness about the challenges faced by Muslim reverts
- Provide transparency to supporters, donors, and partners
- Strengthen advocacy efforts with credible, firsthand accounts
To respect the privacy and safety of individuals, each revert will have full control over how their identity is presented. They may choose to:
- Appear openly on camera
- Have their face blurred
- Remain partially or fully anonymous
Their dignity, security, and personal preferences remain the top priority.
A Call to Responsibility
This policy change also extends to all partners, donors, individuals, and organizations that receive support or funding through the KnowIslam Project.
Transparency is no longer optional—it is essential.
All stakeholders are expected to align with this new direction, ensuring that:
