Samir Elhawary, a senior humanitarian affairs officer at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), told Al Jazeera’s Kamahl Santamaria that while the UN is still able to bring aid to Yemen, there are still many restrictions.

He said that about seven million people in Yemen are severely food insecure. He also said that only 45 percent of the $2.1bn funding for Yemen had been funded.

Elhawary urged Saudi Arabia and the government of Yemen to reopen the Sanaa airport to commercial traffic.
