When the Pastor said, “In Jesus’ name we have worshipped”, I reflected for some seconds then remembered a discussion I had with a sister looking into Christianity some weeks ago.

According to the sister, she can praise and worship God however she wants without anyone teaching her unlike Islam where you have to learn this and that. When I asked her to differentiate between praise and worship, it became very difficult for her.

“… Erhm, Erhm, Praise is to appreciate…happiness…erhm…Glorifying God is worship…”

I saw that she had struggled enough, I decided to help her out. In today’s churches, the only difference between praise and worship is that Praise is fast along with dances while worship is slow same as the beats but for both, songs are involved. ” Sister, see, religion should have nothing to do with not being serious”, I said.

When we talk about praise and worship, Christians do not quote Jesus, rather they quote David. There is no verse in the Bible where Jesus clapped, dance, or sang to praise God!

About worship, Christians do not and will not quote the Bible. We do not know why Christians decide not to see verses in the Bible about worship… We read,

“the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever.” (Revelation 4:10)

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to bow to an Idol that King Nebuchadnezzer asked them to worship. Is Nehemiah 8:4-6 not sufficient or Satan’s temptation asking Jesus to bow and worship him is not a definition of what worship is?

And from the book of Psalms…

Psalm 95:6

Come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.”
