As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), taking joy in the things which their Lord will have granted them, because, they were before this good-doers. They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope], and in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness.” [Surah Adh-Dhariyat, 51:15-18]

This write up is a combination of poetic and article style of wording, as an inference on one of the act of worship Allah recommended on mankind so that we can detach yourself from getting too attached to this world, and make plan in building our Ākhirah (hereafter). This serves as a review to the previous poetic writeup: TAHAJJUD; A SACRIFICE FOR THE MUSLIMS TO REACH A STATUS OF HIGH.

Tahajjud is a nafl prayer offered after Isha prayer but before Fajr prayer, preferably in the last third of the night. It is a late night prayer enjoined on Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), and also recommended to the Muslims: “And rise from your sleep and pray during part of the night [as well], as an additional prayer (Tahajjud optional prayer ‘Nawafil’) for you. It may be that your Lord will raise you to a praised station (in the life to come).” [Surah Al-Isra, 17:79].

Tahajjud is considered to be the most rewarding and beneficial to Muslims among the recommended Nawafil (optional prayers). This is because one has to sacrifice the body and the soul during the time of rest (sleep) in order to seek Allah and his bounty: “Every night when it is the last third of the night, our Lord, the Superior, the Blessed, descends to the nearest heaven and says: Is there anyone to invoke Me that I may respond to his invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone asking My forgiveness so that I may forgive him?.” [Prophet Muhammad ﷺ]. Tahajjud is a range of two or four rak’at. The Tahajjud is usually completed or ended with Witr prayer (rakat), according to the practice of the Prophet (ﷺ) and the Witr is odd in number of rak’at.
A reminder in rhythmic fashion has been developed in order to increase our striving zeal towards our Lord:

Allah (SWT) recommended sacrificing part of the Night;

An avenue of grant assured by our Lord, the Most High;

As a reminder for the Mu’min not to get attached to this Life;

Brought through the Ruh-ul-Qudus; Archangel Jibril, the Angel of Might;

To the lips of Muhammad (SAW), to lead Mankind in the perfection of Sight;

Sacrificing part of the night before Fajr; even if not more than few minutes of Slight;

For the Muslims to engage in Nawafil and Supplications to reach a status of High;

Seeking forgiveness of Allah and exalting His name is an act to make the heart Bright;

Adhering to the Qur’an and Sunnah is a way that bring one from darkness into Light;

This you should take extremely care of, so as not to indulge in amusement and fall into Plight;

Taking the Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet (SAW) as the source to reach a Spiritual Height;

My Lord, forgive my wrongs and save me from the punishment of the companions of the Nigh;

O Allah! Bestow your mercy upon us and make us among the righteous companions of the Right.

Thus, we need to make conscientious move towards heeding to Allah’s injunctions, undertaking His obligations and fulfilling His recommended act. By fulfilling the recommended act and utilising most of our time properly in the activities that earn the pleasure of Allah; we will be doing ourselves a lots of good and getting more benefits and additional rewards. This we should do, so that we can be among the people that attain the status of high.

O people! Spread (the greeting of) Salam (Peace), feed others, uphold the ties of kinship, and pray during the night when people are sleeping, and you will enter Paradise in Peace.” [Prophet Muhammad ﷺ]
