REFUTATION TO THE STORY, “I ENJOYED MAKING CHRISTIANS UNHAPPY”
On January 20, 2017, a story was published on the Facebook page named “Convert to Christianity Rebranded”. The heading given to the story reads, “I ENJOYED MAKING CHRISTIANS UNHAPPY“. The story which (as at the time of this publication) has hundreds of shares features the narrations of a woman said to be an Islamic lawyer who was then converted to Christianity by Jesus Christ. I read this story from the beginning to the end and I think it is expedient we scrutinize some points raised in the story. This is the link to the article https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1101741603281936&id=972493802873384&__mref=message_bubble
In this round of rebuttal, We will deal with the title given to the article; “I ENJOY MAKING CHRISTIANS UNHAPPY”.
As assumed, those who published the story deliberately chose this heading with the mindset of spreading a propaganda that it is customary for Muslims to see Christians unhappy. Unfortunately for them, it ridicules the one who narrated the story and those who published it. Islam as a religion teaches being at peace with people of other faith. It is nowhere to be found in the glorious Qur’an that one way to be happy as a Muslim(ah) is to make those who practice other unhappy. Islam does not support sadism. Therefore, if what is remarkable about the conversion of Binta Faruk is her making Christians unhappy, we can conclude she does not understand Islam after-all.
The heading goes on thus, ” THE STORY OF AN ISLAMIC LAWYER WHO WAS CONVERTED TO BY JESUS HIMSELF”. I will excuse “himself” being fully aware that we all make mistakes. Having done that, Let me lay emphasis on, “Islamic Lawyer”.
The rate at which itinerant Bible-thumpers, evangelists, Christian apologists employ all means including deception, propaganda, lies, maliciousness, deceptiveness to deceive people is at its climax. By now, the way they use social media as a tool to spread propaganda is no longer a news to us.
Anyone who reads the heading would think that Binta Faruk has wide knowledge in field of Sharia’ah or Islamic Jurisprudence. Contrary to the claim that she was an Islamic lawyer as written in the heading, the story says she studied mass communication at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). how she bagged the title, “Islamic Lawyer”, we beg for answers.
Binta Faruk wrote in her story, “As a young girl, in the secondary school, and even as an undergraduate, I would delightfully pack copies of the Holy Bible and take them to Kaduna for destruction…”
Allah says in Qur’an 109:6,
“For you is your religion, and for me is my religion.”
Nowhere is it written in the glorious Qur’an that a Muslim should destroy the religious scriptures of people of other religions either for fun or for the sake of spiritual growth. What version of Islam Binta Faruk was practicing, we don’t know. These are the same people who would say Islam teaches them violence without backing it up with evidences. That she loved to make Christians unhappy and to destroy the bible was used as points to prove her being a former Muslim yet no verse of the Qur’an backer her action. I do not dispute that she was a Muslim, but given these two rebuttals, we would not be wrong to call her an ignorant Muslim and those who want to criticize Islam using her ignorance as evidences should shut up their mouth.
She wrote again, “At about 1:30a.m. suddenly, an unusually bright light appeared in the bedroom with a mighty wind blowing and throwing all the pictures and other valuables to the ground. My husband and I became afraid. He got up from bed, brought out charms, known in Hausa as “Hayaki”. He placed it on the ground, got hot charcoal and placed the charm on it, but the mighty wind threw it all down”
What more further evidences do we need? For the benefit of doubt, I will agree she was a Muslim but if we call her a non-Muslim, we are not wrong. If she and her husband were true Muslims, why would they resort to charms because of a certain light? why even keep charms in the first place being a Muslim. What Binta Faruk can never deny is the fact that she knew her husband had charms. True Muslims rely totally on Allah,. hence, associating partners with him is “SHIRK”.
SHIRK IS THE GREATEST SIN IN ISLAM AND IT TAKES ONE AWAY FROM THE FOLD OF ISLAM. THEREFORE, CONCLUDING THAT BINTA FARUK WAS NOT A MUSLIM IS TRUE AND THE LACK OF BASIC KNOWLEDGE ABOUT ISLAM MADE HER HUSBAND TOOK IGNORANT STEPS AFTER HER SAID CONVERSION, HENCE, ISLAM SHOULD NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE
She went further in her narration, ” …a voice thundered, saying: “You have been baptized by the Holy Spirit. Go and be “Tabitha” unto my people”
According to Binta Faruk, the voice she heard was the voice of Jesus. How do we trust this narration? As much as I would love to say maybe someone was playing pranks with her, I will not. I will agree to disagree that the voice she heard was that of Jesus. Having done that, let us look into the Bible to see those Jesus sent her to before she starts to waste her time in Nigeria.
To understand “my people” in its context as Jesus would put it, it is important we use the bible. We read,
“St. Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins”.
The verse above tells us Jesus would save “his people”. Who are they?. The following verses tell us those Jesus claimed he was sent to;
“St. Matthew 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
St. Matthew 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
Jesus was very clear. He was sent to THE LOST SHEEP OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL. Jesus said again,
“St. Matthew 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
Therefore, if Binta Faruk wants to take her ministry anywhere, it should be to the Jewish Land. In this round, I hope I have been able to expose how ignorant and fetish Binta Faruk was and if anyone should say she left Islam, definitely not someone who already used to associate partners with Allah, an associate of someone cooking charm like Fried rice.
The story gets more interesting as she wrote, “Tell your husband that you have accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour”
One would not be wrong at all to say that Binta Faruk never heard from Jesus Christ as the noble messenger of God will never say what he has no idea about. If Jesus who spent over thirty years on earth did not for once claimed to be the Lord and personal saviour, on what grounds would h then appear to someone asking her to believe such?.
This is a challenge to all Christians in the world to show us a verse from the Bible that says Jesus Christ is our Lord and personal saviour.
This is what God proclaimed in the Bible;
“Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. Isaiah 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
This verse refutes her claim that Jesus asked her to accept him as a Lord and personal saviour.
She wrote again, “On Saturday, after speaking to him about it, I went ahead and bought for myself the first Bible I ever bought or read in my life, and hid it under my box. The next day, Sunday, I picked up my Bible, got into my car and drove to the nearby Baptist Church.”
In this round, I want to ask Binta Faruk what type of Bible she bought because I know of many Bibles. Here is a short list;
1) Amplified Bible
2) American Standard version
3) Common English Bible
4) Contemporary English Version
5) Contemporary English version(Anglicised Version)
6) Catholic Public Domain Version
7) Darby Translation 1890
8) Douay-Rheims Challoner Revision 1752
9) Easy-to-read Version
10) English standard Version
11) Good News Bible
12) Good News Bible(Anglicised)
13) Good News Bible(Catholic edition in Septuagint order)
14) Good News Translation
15) Good News Translation (US version)
16) God’s Word Translation
17) Holman Christian Standard Bible
18) ISR98(The scriptures 1998)
19) Jubilee Bible
20) King James Version
These versions have so many differences. While the Catholic Bible has 73 books, the protestant Bible consists of 66 books. The Revised Standard Version of the Bible in its preface says the King James Version as errors and grave defects. These errors (according to the RSV) are so many and so serious as to call for a revision. It is in the spirit of this revision that made the NIV, NWT, RSV to unceremoniously expunge 16 verses from their own Bibles. The anachronisms, errors, contradiction, discrepancies and fallacies in these Bibles not even mentioned.
So, Which Bible?
- We are in the age of reason, hence, all propaganda, mischievous Journalism to defame Islam will be refuted. Islam is a religion that respects differences and teaches religious tolerance.
- Affiliating violence, terrorism with Islam using the deeds of an ignorant person as a standard is petty and unintelligent.
- Islam is the only way to salvation and anyone who does dies without being a Muslim shall be a loser in the hereafter.
- Before you decide to lie against Islam, remember rebuttals like this will come your way.
- Jesus was a Muslim. He believed in one God and bowed down to worship Him.
- Jesus never taught Christianity, never went to church, never used a Bible, never collected tithe so he will never direct anyone to go to church.
