Today, 21st of June 2018, it was reported that Amasa Firdaus has been invited to the Call to Bar Ceremony and that the use of Hijab to the Call to Bar Ceremony had been approved. We decided to contact those who would give us authentic information on the matter especially Amasa Firdaus’ lawyers.
About Amasa Firdaus and the Call to Bar saga, we can authoritatively say that,
* The body of Benchers have decided to call Amasa Firdaus to Bar but she is not yet invited
* A decision was taken to allow Amasa Firdaus to be called to Bar wearing a small covering like The Honourable Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa style
* There is no decision made yet on approval of Hijab in Call to Bar ceremony.
According to one of Firdaus’ lawyers, the struggle continues and we need to support this cause with prayers. Also, if we can struggle this far, this is not the time to relent.
Further discussing with the lawyer, we all concluded that there is a reason why the word, “HIJAB” found its way into the picture. We are clamouring for the use of Hijab to Call to Bar ceremony not a covering. If we wanted just a covering, that could have been stated but the HIJAB. Therefore, we are settling for the Hijab, nothing less.
About Amasa Firdaus and the Call to Bar saga, we can say that this is a correct picture of where the struggle is as at 21st of June, 2018. We will bring to you verified updates as we get them, In shaa Allah.
As the struggle continues, we pray Allah strengthens and reward everyone abundantly. Ameen.
