BUILDING MORAL STANDARD IN GOVERNANCE By Abu Maryam Ibn Is’haq (Abumaribi)
BUILDING MORAL STANDARD IN GOVERNANCE
Education they say; ‘is the best legacy‘. This saying becomes fictitious, when those that claimed to have gone through proper and standard education are now the practitioners of indecency. The National Anthem and the National Pledge do not make any meanings to their hearings anymore. And one would begin to ask; ‘What is the value and benefits of your education, if you don’t have ethical standards to make the right decision?‘. It is unfortunate, many of our leaders didn’t go to school for progressive knowledge, rather, they went for materialistic gain and as such, they didn’t achieve development in moral standards; if at all it’s taught in the western educational system. Funny enough, ethical standards is not taught in Western educational school but, it is developed through (Religious) upbringing.
This serves as a call to mind for all those that are involved in fraudulent and corrupt practices that is hindering the progress of our Nation, and causing distress to the masses. For the heedful among them to take heed and amend their ways. This is our Nation and we have got every means to make things right. This is for the undutiful politicians of our time!
Remembering the present situation of our Nation education system, and critically looking at the welfare and lifestyle of the majority of our infants, youths, and adults; it shows that some of of our citizens (Sincere ones) are really standing up for themselves to getting things done independently (irrespective of the lackadaisical attitude of the politicians).
It met me with empathetic human quality when my mind went through rational thought, and I realised that a Nation that is full of Natural resources, intellectuals, and hardworking citizens is still struggling to make it to the development country level. Hence, some unconscious and materialistic personality are using the resources and the National cake [Net Domestic Product (NDP)] of the country to fulfil their selfish interest.
Looking into history of this Nation, we know that the activities and the practice of majority of our politicians and leaders are undervalued. The leadership and management they profess in the economy is likened to a meager roles, and most of them are also dormant in the system.
Many of these people enjoyed easy lifestyle during their infant age, while our past heroes were struggling for betterment in living and welfare of the masses; most of them got free and standard education, scholarships, and other likely benefits, during their past times, but these same people (politicians and leaders) ,refused to instil the same system and structure for the masses of the present times. What they claim now is the struggle for their selfish interest and the interest of their offsprings and relatives.
For those that are yet to be there, and planning to join the ladder, and also those presently involved, this you should note: If you do it well, a certainty of account is ready for you, and if you do otherwise death is sure to overcome you: “Wheresoever you may be, death will overtake you even if you are in fortresses built up strong and high!” [Surah An-Nisa, 4:78].
It is no doubt that life on this earth is for a temporal and short period of time, and everyone will surely bear the account of their actions in this life and the result for placement in the Lifeafter: “[But] One day We shall summon all human beings [and judge them] according to the conscious disposition which governed their deeds [in life]: whereupon they whose record shall be placed in their right hand -it is they who will read their record [with happiness]. Yet none shall be wronged by as much as a hair’s breadth.” [Surah Al-Isra, 17:71]
This is a wake up call for all those holding the post of leadership and those representing the masses interest. Do amend your ways before a day when all mankind would receive their judgment.
The Just Judge will Justify the Justice:
وَنَضَعُ الْمَوَازِينَ الْقِسْطَ لِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ فَلَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْئًا وَإِن كَانَ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍ أَتَيْنَا بِهَا وَكَفَىٰ بِنَا حَاسِبِينَ
“And We shall set up balances of justice on the Day of Resurrection, then none will be dealt with unjustly in anything. And if there be the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it. And Sufficient are We as Reckoners.” (Qur’ān 21:47)
With these, we better take heed and not let our greed and selfishness control our body and soul (physical and spiritual), letting the masses feel the agony of the economy in favour of the gain for ourselves and out acquaintance. It is better to enjoin all that require righteousness, and all that cause indecency should be forbidden; That we may not exchange Paradise for just little enjoyment of this life. The Pristine Source reminded us of those that will receive the glad tidings:
“Those that turn (to Allah) in repentance; that serve Him, and praise Him; that wander in devotion to the cause of Allah,: that bow down and prostrate themselves in prayer; that enjoin good and forbid evil; and observe the limit set by Allah;- (These do rejoice). So proclaim the glad tidings to the Believers.” (Surah At-Taubah, 9:112)
