The concept of God in Islam is generally known as Tauheed which means Oneness of God whose personal name is Allah. Nothing else can be called Allah.

Allah has no plural gender and the name is neither in the masculine or plural form. This however, shows its uniqueness as compared to the terms ‘god or goddess’ which can be made plural.

To a Muslim, Allah is the Creator and Sustainer of anything imaginable. Allah is the Almighty. Allah is similar to nothing and nothing can be compared to him in the heavens and on this duniyah (earth).

Allah is the Most sovereign and the All-sufficient One as everything including time and space depends on Him; neither is He begotten nor he beget any child. Allah is the First and the Last because He was the ONLY existing before the beginning and He would also be the ONLY existing after the end.

Islam rejects characterizing God in any human form or depicting Him as favoring certain individuals or nations on the basis if wealth, power or race. All human beings are created as equals by Allah. They may distinguish themselves and obtain His favour only through virtue and piety.

The form of Allah is beyond human comprehension and the blasphemous statements that He rested on the seventh day of creation, wrestled with His creation, an envious plotter against mankind or that He decided to be humble as to know how humans feel that He left His Glory and incarnated as a Human being…Subhanallah!!! All these are blasphemous statements and doesn’t befit Allah’s Glory.

Tauheed is a reflection of Islam’s emphasis on the purity of the belief in Allah, which is the essence of all the message of all His Prophets. Because of this, Islam considers associating any deity or personality with Allah as Shirk (an unforgivable sin).

Allah has the power to do whatever He wills. He is Ever-living and the Owner of beautiful names and attributes. He is the Giver of life. The Love of Allah for his creations is beyond human comprehension and His Mercy is everlasting. Allah creates male and female in the best form according to His imagination and likeness and gives them senses and faculties that they need for their growth.

Allah creates the mind to understand, the soul and conscience to be good and righteous and the feelings and sentiments to be kind and humane. Allah’s mercy gives men and women hope and peace, courage and confidence. It enables them to remedy their grief and sorrows, to overcome their difficulties and obtain success and happiness. Indeed, Allah’s mercy relieves the distressed, cheers the afflicted, consoles the sick, strengthens the desperate, and comforts the needy.
