THE TEST OF LIFE By Ahmad Bukar (Ibn Islam)

At his first word I was bemused

Is it spiritual or psychological?

I’m confused.

His need for attention is huge

For newsletters to be released on what is going on

In the society of today that treats people like animals or worse

I’m only depressed – but his want is death!

SubhanAllah.

Alhamdulillah.

“The believers are naught else but brothers.” – Qur’an 49:10

What we hear and see in the community makes us ponder if this verse really exists in the Holy Book!

Are the men of this era really aware of it or they’re just minding their own businesses?
Disregarding the religious duty, maybe religion have nothing to offer them now. Should I go by saying they’re copying the western ideology? No! not at all. Enough of blaming the west.

His voice is still ringing in my ears

The echo in his voice that left my heart shaky and sinking

I’m almost silenced with untold sorrow

I don’t know when tears swelled up in my eyes and rolled down my cheeks.

Who shall I blame?

Our society, the government, myself or who?

I pray that he would be all right soon because I’m afraid.

He is brave enough to start by teslim –
“Assalamu alaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuhu”.

He question the Ustadh if it was permissible to wish for death, pray for death.

I instantly felt completely down as if have been hit by a rocket – SubhanAllāh! What a question!

It is the worst question I have ever heard. I felt completely mute for some minutes and not until a couple of deep breaths that I found my voice and started by saying: Alhamdulillāhi.

I called his attention and asked him to listen attentively, I started quoting the Qur’an

“[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving” – (Surah Al-Mulk, Ayah 2)

Life itself is a test and I know that you understand what test means

You will definitely face some challenges, obstacles and shackles on your journey through the road of life, as Allāh (S.W.T) test His beloved Servants.

You have to understand, we are tested for many reasons and the test depend upon the strength of our Emaan.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ( Peace Be Upon Him) said:

“Trials will continue to befall the believing men and women, with regards to themselves, their children and their wealth, until they meet their Lord with no sin on them” (Tirmidhi)

And Almighty Allāh (SWT) confirm the saying of the Prophet,(PBUH).

The songs of birds have become memories to me.

Now all I hear is the tune of harshness and bullies about me

Accusations , insults – whatever it is called have become routine to me.

I tried my best to cope with it but it is very difficult for me.

The reason I always thought I am not one of them!

Even the best of Allāh’s creation had gone through some trials. Read what his Lord said:

“And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say. So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him]. And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death).”

( Surah Al-Hijr, Verse 97-99)
