Know Islam, Know Paradise

RISEN FROM RUINS By Azeezah Olatunde (PenTalks)

Again and Again his words were on

Repetition, the penciled charcoal walk on the white road

Still my dull soul felt they were alienated speech

He hurled words that motivated me to be a dullard

His motivational speech quoted “Useless to the society”

Yes, useless!

But mama cried and told me I am gifted

I flipped through pages till candle wax stops crying

My playhouse became the building

That houses knowledge

Mum pulled me from the soil of mortification

To the apogee of successful success

I was useless as the man standing by the door said

Which turned history, he never knew what the future held

He never knew his glasses will read my written words

To teach another generation

If only he knew he would’ve been part of my success story
