Israel, Saudi, UAE team up in anti-Qatar lobbying move

0

Washington, DC – US legislation threatening to sanction Qatar for its support of “Palestinian terror” was sponsored by 10 legislators who received more than $1m over the last 18 months from lobbyists and groups linked to Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The bill was introduced to the US House of Representatives on May 25, but the text wasn’t available until Friday morning, hours after Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Egypt put 59 people and 12 institutions linked to Qatar on a “terror list”.

The nations abruptly ended diplomatic relations with Qatar on Monday, accusing Doha of supporting “extremism” and siding with their regional rival Iran.

“Hamas has received significant financial and military support from Qatar,” the Palestinian International Terrorism Support Prevention Act of 2017, also known as HR 2712, said. It went on to list sanctions including an end of exports of defence technologies, arms, and loans or financing totalling more than $10m.

For Trita Parsi, author and founder of the National Iranian American Council (NIAC), a nonprofit that aims to strengthen the voice of US citizens of Iranian descent, the similarities between the US-allied Arab nations’ “terror list” and HR 2712 show growing cooperation between Gulf Arab states and Israel.

“The coordination between hawkish pro-Israel groups and UAE and Saudi Arabia has been going on for quite some time,” Parsi told Al Jazeera. What is new, he continued, is pro-Israel groups such as the Foundation for Defense of Democracies “coming out with pro-Saudi [articles] and lobbying for them on Capitol Hill”.

Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia all view the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist political group, as a threat. Deposed Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi belonged to the group, which endured a heavy-handed crackdown in Egypt since a military coup installed Abdel Fatah el-Sisi as president in 2014.

The Brotherhood was the ideological base for Hamas, the Islamist rulers of the besieged Gaza Strip that have fought three wars with the Israelis. The Saudis demand that Qatar stop supporting the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas in a move that aligns with Egyptian and Israeli policy.

Israel’s influence on US policymakers is clear. HR 2712’s sponsors received donations totalling $1,009,796 from pro-Israel individuals and groups for the 2016 election cycle alone, according to data collected by the Center for Responsive Politics, an independent research group tracking money in US politics and its effect on elections and public policy, and then compiled by Al Jazeera.

“They’re not traditional pro-Saudi legislators. They’re in the pro-Likud camp,” Parsi said, referring to the party of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The bill has bipartisan sponsorship. Five of the legislators come from the House Committee on Foreign Relations (HCFR), including sponsor Brian Mast, a first-term Republican congressman from Florida, and Ed Royce and Eliot Engel, the ranking Republican and Democrat of the HCFR, respectively.

Royce received $242,143 from pro-Israel sources for the 2016 election cycle, $190,150 went to Engel. Mast, who volunteered with the Israeli military after he finished serving in the US Army, received $90,178.

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a Florida Republican, received $150,300 in 2016, pushing her 27-year career total of pro-Israel dollars to more than $1m.

In contrast with the $1 million donated by pro-Israel entities in 2016, HR 2712’s sponsors received roughly $25,700 in donations by pro-Saudi and UAE lobbying groups over the last 18 months, according to filings with the US Department of Justice made public under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

The act requires that lobbyists track and submit donations and contacts between themselves and legislators when working for foreign governments.

Al Jazeera’s investigation covered 10 firms associated with Saudi and Emirati lobbying efforts. However, these are not exhaustive. Both Gulf nations have rapidly expanded their lobbying in recent years and could include further donations from individuals.

FARA filings also document frequent emails and meetings between the 10 legislators and Saudi-UAE lobbyists, as well as calls to major media outlets concerning news coverage of major events.

Texas Republican Ted Poe, who said in a release he was proud to support HR 2712 because it “will make countries like Qatar, Iran, and others pay a price for their support for terrorism” was the only legislator who does not have a record of any donations from lobbyists linked to Israel, Saudi or UAE.

Al Jazeera’s requests for comment from several sponsors, including Brian Mast and the HCFR, were not immediately answered.

Regarding the increased collaboration between the Gulf nations and Israel, which recently entered its 50th year of occupying Palestine, Parsi said even though there are disagreements they share a common goal.

“To use the opportunity they have with the Trump administration to restore an order in the region that is appealing to them – an order based on Iran’s isolation and the re-prioritisation of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Israel,” he said.

The previous Obama administration shook the status quo of the Middle East by making the landmark nuclear deal with Iran that eased sanctions and allowed for the Shia regional power to continue researching nuclear power. The agreement was based on an end to Iran’s efforts to develop nuclear weapons, and it has complied with the terms such as intermittent inspections by international agencies.

Obama famously said the Saudis need to find “an effective way to share the neighbourhood and institute some sort of cold peace” with the Iranians.

“But then Obama okayed billion-dollar arms deals to assure Gulf partners he wasn’t entirely pivoting towards Iran,” William Hartung, director of the Arms and Security Project at the Center for International Policy, a think-tank in Washington, DC, told Al Jazeera.

Now, Trump has adopted an “all-in” approach to Saudi relations, including a controversial $110bn arms deal regardless of human rights concerns surrounding the use of these weapons in the ongoing Yemen conflict.

Arms sales have long acted as a means of influencing US policy. “There was always a sort of tacit quid pro quo,” Hartung continued. The Saudis would buy US weapons and receive the superpower’s protection, the arms expert explained.

Israel has historically raised concerns about arms deals with Gulf Arab states, who last fought a war in 1973. But the Israeli leadership has “kept quiet” about the $110bn arms deal with Saudi Arabia inked by the Trump administration because “there was a shift from viewing the Saudis as a potential adversary”, Hartung said, because Iran is a common enemy.

“In the old days, there was a pro-Israel block in Congress … that would have been very sceptical and possibly pushed for votes against arms sales to Saudi Arabia. That hasn’t happened in a long time,” he said.

The geographic and corresponding congressional realignment will continue, Parsi predicted, and pressure on Qatar will remain.

The small Gulf country “is a problem because it is independent and doesn’t share Saudi Arabia’s obsession with Iran”, he said.

For its part, Qatar has vowed to retain its independence.

Anti-Muslim marches held in several U.S cities

ACT for America is spearheading National March Against Sharia rallies in at least 28 cities across the country.

Right-wing marchers have taken to the streets in several cities across the United States for the National March Against Sharia, an anti-Muslim campaign that has been roundly criticised by rights groups and watchdogs.

Responding to a call by ACT for America, march participants came out in at least 28 cities in some 20 states on Saturday.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has described ACT for America as an “extremist” organisation and the largest grassroots anti-Muslim group in the country.

Islamophobia in the USA

Counterprotesters amassed in several cities to oppose the nationwide marches, with clashes and skirmishes taking place at a handful of the march sites.

Speaking to Al Jazeera ahead of the marches, Corey Saylor of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) described the marches as “Islamophobic” and part of a phenomenon that leads to the “creation of an environment in which violence [against Muslims] feels permissible”.

Alia Salem, a Dallas-based Muslim-American and social justice activist, argued that anti-Muslim xenophobia long predates the presidency of Donald Trump.

“Islamophobia wasn’t created by Donald Trump,” Salem told Al Jazeera.

“It was empowered to a certain extent. More than anything, the idea of white supremacy within segments of our population have been empowered through his presidency.”

ACT for America did not reply to Al Jazeera’s request for a comment. A statement on the group’s website claimed that sharia – or Islamic law – runs contrary to human rights and the US Constitution.

Clashes reportedly broke out between anti-fascists – known colloquially as Antifa – and march participants in a handful of cities, including Seattle, Washington.

Freelance journalist Mike Bivins, reporting from Seattle, published on Twitter videos of a brawl between the two sides and police subsequently firing pepper spray into the crowds

During a rally and counterprotest in New York City, local media reports estimate that around 200 Antifa protests outnumbered several dozen participants of the National March Against Sharia.

Images posted on social media showed skirmishes between the left-wing counterprotesters and the far-rightists, who had their ‘Make America Great Again’ hats ripped off during confrontations.

Discriminatory history

Founded in 2007 and boasting of more than 500,000 members, the group is one of many that support US President Donald Trump. Its members have campaigned for strict legislation that targets Muslims and refugees in recent years.

In an executive order that has been frozen by courts, Trump has attempted to ban travellers from six Muslim-majority countries from entering the US. The order is slated to be considered by the Supreme Court.

In a report published last year, CAIR examined what it calls the “Islamophobia industry”.

Between 2008 and 2013, the report found, ACT for America was one of 33 anti-Muslim groups that had access to more than $204m in revenue.

Brigitte Gabriel, ACT for America’s founder, is a Lebanese American who has in the past accused the Muslim Brotherhood political movement of conspiring to conquer the US. She has also referred to Arabs as “barbarians” and claimed they have “no soul”.

Nathan Lean, author of The Islamophobia Industry, described ACT for America as part of “a network of bigots” that has promoted anti-Muslim sentiment in recent years.

“That sense of fear has not only led to the adoption of legislation that discriminates against Muslims, but has, in my opinion, spurred a smattering of hate crimes and other acts of violence and intimidation online and in the public that create a very dangerous situation for American Muslims,” he told Al Jazeera.

Between 2013 and 2015, at least 10 anti-Muslim laws were enacted by state legislatures, according to CAIR.

An addition 81 bills or amendments targeting Muslims were introduced during the same time period.

Last year alone, CAIR documented 260 anti-Muslim hate crimes and 2,213 bias incidents aimed at Muslims.

Increasing clashes

Members of the alt-right – a loosely knit movement that includes white supremacists, neo-Nazis and other far-right groups – participated in many of Saturday’s marches.

The protests and counterprotests in more than a dozen cities come at a time of increased tensions and frequent physical confrontations between Antifa and far-right activists.

In New York City, the pro-Trump nationalist group The Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers militia movement took part in the local march and in favour of what they deem “free speech”.

In response, the Metropolitan Anarchists Coordinating Council (MACC) staged a noise demonstrations with hopes of drowning out anti-Muslim chants.

“They have no intention of encouraging free speech,” Marisa Holmes, a spokesperson for MACC, told Al Jazeera by telephone.

The marches come just weeks after Jeremy Christian, a 35-year-old white supremacist, allegedly stabbed to death Ricky Best, 53, and Taliesin Namkai-Meche, 23, when they tried to stop him from harassing a pair of girls, one of whom wore an Islamic head scarf, on a light rail in Portland, Oregon.

A third man, 21-year-old Micah Fletcher, intervened and was severely injured with a stab wound to his neck.

“They are encouraging violence against the most oppressed and marginalised groups in our society, and the threat is real,” Holmes added.

“As we’ve seen in Portland and elsewhere, people are being physically attacked – and there have been fatalities.”

In La Porte, Texas, the Houston Socialist Movement and other anti-fascist groups counterprotested the local ACT for America march on Saturday.

“We need collective political action to oppose the fascists and do whatever we can to deny them a platform when they come out to spread their filth,” David Michael Smith of the Houston Socialist Movement told Al Jazeera.

“We need to make very clear that most people in this society oppose them and do not want them around.”

Alluding to the recent killings in Portland, Alia Salem concluded: “The more people of conscience start waking up and realising what is happening – like the three men who stood up in Portland – the more it shows that this is an issue that doesn’t just affect Muslims. It affects all of us.”

Reports: Qatari pilgrims harassed in Mecca Grand Mosque

0

Saudi authorities have prevented Qatari nationals from entering the Grand Mosque in Mecca, marking a sharp escalation in the Gulf diplomatic crisis, Doha-based Al Sharq newspaper has reported.

Qatar’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) received complaints from Qatari citizens that pilgrims from Qatar were barred from entering the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, the paper said on Saturday.

Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri, the NHRC head, called the incident a flagrant violation of the right to practice religious rites as permitted by human rights conventions, the paper said.

The NHRC denounced the incident, considering the step a violation of the right to perform religious rituals guaranteed by human rights conventions, Al Sharq added.

It should be noted that Saudi authorities do not normally question people entering the Grand Mosque on their ethnicity or sectarian affiliation.

The claims come a few days after the UAE and Bahraincriminalised“sympathy” for Qatar on social media.

The UAE said offenders would be punished with a jail term of up to 15 years, and a $136,000 fine. Bahrain declared it punishable by imprisonment of up to five years.

Since the diplomatic row erupted, slogans against and in support of Qatar have been among the top topics discussed on Twitter in Arabic, which is a hugely popular medium of expression in the Arab world, particularly in Saudi Arabia.

The dispute between Qatar and the Arab countries escalated after a cyberattack on Qatar’s state-run news agency.

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE and Egypt severed diplomatic ties and transport links with Qatar on Monday, accusing it of supporting “extremism”.

Qatar has vehemently denied the charges.

In its statement, the Qatari government said it has been leading the region in attacking what it called the roots of “terrorism”, including giving young people hope through jobs, educating hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees and funding community programmes to challenge agendas of armed groups.

“Our position on countering terrorism is stronger than many of the signatories of the joint statement – a fact that has been conveniently ignored by the authors,” the government said.

Dear Christian's, Please Ask Yourself ?

“Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to an agreement between us and you: that we shall worship none but Allah, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for Lords besides Allah. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered (unto him). (Qur’an)

TRINITY:

According to most Christians, Jesus was God-incarnate, full man and full God. Can the finite and the infinite be one? “To be full” God means freedom from finite forms and from helplessness, and to be “full man” means the absence of divinity.

1.To be son is to be less than divine and to be divine is to be no one’s son. How could Jesus have the attributes of sonship and divinity altogether?

2. Christians assert that Jesus claimed to be God when they quote him in John 14:9: “He that has seen me has seen the Father”. Didn’t Jesus clearly say that people have never seen God, as it says in John 5:37: “And the father himself which has sent me, has borne witness of me. You have NEITHER HEARD HIS VOICE AT ANY TIME NOR SEEN HIS SHAPE”?

3. Christians say that Jesus was God because he was called Son of God, Son of Man, Messiah, and “saviour”. Ezekiel was addressed in the Bible as Son of Man. Jesus spoke of “the peace makers” as Sons of God. Any person who followed the Will and Plan of God was called SON OF GOD in the Jewish tradition and in their language (Genesis 6:2,4; Exodus 4:22; Psalm 2:7; Romans 8:14). “Messiah” which in Hebrew means “God’s anointed” and not “Christ”, and “Cyrus” the person is called “Messiah” or “the anointed”. As for “saviour”, in II KINGS 13:5, other individuals were given that title too without being gods. So where is the proof in these terms that Jesus was God when the word son is not exclusively used for him alone?

4. Christians claim that Jesus acknowledged that he and God were one in the sense of nature when he says in John 10:30 “I and my father are one”. Later on in John 17:21-23, Jesus refers to his followers and himself and God as one in five places. So why did they give the previous “one” a different meaning from the other five “ones”?

5. Is God three-in-one and one in three simultaneously or one at a time?

6. If God is one and three simultaneously, then none of the three could be the complete God. Granting that such was the case, then when Jesus was on earth, he wasn’t a complete God, nor was the “father in Heaven” a whole God. Doesn’t that contradict what Jesus always said about His God and our God in heaven, his Lord and our Lord ? Does that also mean that there was no complete god then, between the claimed crucifixion and the claimed resurrection?

7. If God is one and three at a time, then who was the God in heaven when Jesus was on earth? Wouldn’t this contradict his many references to a God in Heaven that sent him?

8. If God is three and one at the same time, who was the God in Heaven within three days between the claimed crucifixion and the claimed resurrect ion?

9. Christians say that: “The Father(F) is God, the Son(S) is God, and the Holy Ghost(H) is God, but the Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Holy Ghost, and the Holy Ghost is not the Father”. In simple arithmetic and terms therefore, if F = G, S = G, and H = G, then it follows that F = S = H, while the second part of the statement suggests that F ¹ S ¹ H (meaning, “not equal”). Isn’t that a contradiction to the Christian dogma of Trinity in itself ?

10. If Jesus was God, why did he tell the man who called him “good master” not to call him “good” because accordingly, there is none good but his God in Heaven alone?

11. Why do Christians say that God is three-in-one and one in three when Jesus says in Mark 12:29: “The Lord our God is one Lord” in as many places as yet in the Bible?

12. If belief in the Trinity was such a necessary condition for being a Christian, why didn’t Jesus teach and emphasize it to the Christians during his time? How were those followers of Jesus considered Christians without ever hearing the term Trinity? Had the Trinity been the spinal cord of Christianity, Jesus would have emphasized it on many occasions and would have taught and explained it in detail to the people.

13. Christians claim that Jesus was God as they quote in John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. This is John speaking and not Jesus. Also, the Greek word for the first occurrence of God is HOTHEOS which means “the God” or “God” with a capital “G”, while the Greek word for its second occurrence is “TONTHEOS”, which means “a god ” or “god” with a small “g”. Isn’t this dishonesty and inconsistency on the part of those translating the Greek Bible? ? Isn’t such quotation in John 1:1 recognized by every Christian scholar of the Bible to have been written by a Jew named Philo Alexandria way before Jesus and John?

14. Wasn’t the word “god” or “TONTHEOS” also used to refer to others as well as in II Corinthians 4:4 “(and the Devil is) the god of this world” and in Exodus 7:1 “See , I have made thee (Moses ) a god to Pharaoh”?

SALVATION:

Christians say that “GOD LOST His only son to save us”. To whom did God lose Jesus if he owns the whole universe?

15. If it was agreeable with God’s Majesty to have sons, He could have created a million sons the like of Jesus. So what is the big clear deal about this only son?

16.Why does the Bible say that Jesus wanted to die on the cross, when the one on the cross was shouting “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” according to Matthew 27:45 and Mark 15:33?

17. If God had wanted to save us, couldn’t He have done that without sacrificing Jesus?

18. God is Just, and justice requires that nobody should be punished for the sins of others, nor should some people be saved by punishing other people. Doesn’t the claim that God sacrificed Jesus to save us because He was Just, contradict the definition of justice?

19. People sacrifice things they have to get something they don’t have when they can’t have both. Christians say that “God SACRIFICED His only son to save us”. We know that God is Almighty; to whom did He sacrifice Jesus?

20. A real sacrifice is when you can’t get back what you have offered , so what would be the big deal about such a sacrifice if God could recover the same offering? (according to the Christians’ terminology)?

21. If all the Christians are saved through Jesus and are going to Heaven no matter what they do, then the teachings of Jesus are irrelevant and the definition of good and bad are also rendered irrelevant. If this is not so, then do Christians who believe in Jesus yet do not follow his teachings nor repent go to Hell?

22. How can Christians take deeds as irrelevant after becoming one when Jesus says in Matthew 12:36; “But I say unto you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment. For by the words thou shalt be justified, by the words thou shalt be condemned”?

23. Christians say that people go to Heaven ONLY THROUGH JESUS, yet Paul says in 1 CORINTHIANS 7:8-16 that the unbelieving husband is acceptable to God because he is united with his wife and vice versa, and their pagan children are also acceptable to God. So people can go to heaven without believing in Jesus according to this.

24. How come the Bible says that ALL Israel is saved although they don’t believe in Jesus? Doesn’t that contradict the claim in the Bible that the only way to heaven is through Jesus?

25. According to Christians, those who have not been baptized will go to Hell. So even the infants and babies go to Hell if not baptized, since they are born with an inherited original sin. Doesn’t this contradict the definition of justice? Why would God punish people for sins they never committed?

HOLY SPIRIT:

The only place in the Bible where the Paraclete was called the Holy Spirit is in John 4:26 “But the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance
all that I have said to you”. What has the Holy Spirit brought or taught for the last 2000 years?

26. Christians say that the Paraclete means the Holy Spirit (John 14;26). Jesus said in John 16:7-8 “If I do not go away the Paraclete will not come to you”. This could not mean the Holy spirit, since the Holy spirit was said to have been there before Jesus was even born as in Luke 1:41 “Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit”.
Here, the Holy spirit was also present during Jesus life time. So how could this fit with the condition that Jesus must go away so that the Holy spirit will come?

27. In John 16:7-8, it says: “But if go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world of sins and of righteousness and of Judgment”. What do “he” and “him” refer here? Do Not they refer to a man?

28. Does the Holy Spirit talk to good Christians and bad Christians as well? Is the Holy spirit with them all the time or just at certain times? When does it start visiting a person who wants to become a Christian?

29. How can you as a Christian tell if the Holy Spirit is inside another Christian? How come many Christians fooled people by claiming that the Holy spirit was inside them only to be converted to another religion later on ?

30. Does the Holy Spirit dictate what Christians should do without choice or freedom at all or does it only guide them and they have the freedom to follow or not ?

31. If the Holy Spirit dictates what Christian should do, why do Christians commit sins and make mistakes ? How can you explain the conversion to other religions and atheism of many Christians? Are they told to do that by the Holy Spirit?

32. If the Holy Spirit guides Christians only, and they are free to do what they want, then how do we know that the writers of the Gospels didn’t make mistakes in writing them?

33.If Christians believe that the Holy Spirit comes and talks to them everyday, why don’t they ask the Holy Spirit about which version of the Bible to follow since there are too many versions floating around?

MISSION OF JESUS:

Without borrowing from other religions and systems, can Christianity provide people with a complete way of life? Since Christianity is limited to spiritual life and does not provide law, how can a society decide which laws are right or wrong?

34.Why do the Christians say that Jesus came with a universal mission when he said that he was sent to the Jews only? He said to the Canaanite woman who asked him to heal her daughter from demon-possession: “I was sent ONLY to the lost sheep of Israel” and also said: “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs”, Matthew 15:21-28.

RESSURECTION:

If you read Matthew (28:1-10), Mark (16:1-20), Luke (24:1-12), and John (20: 1-18), you will find contradicting stories. They all agreed that the tomb was guarded for three days. However, they reported the discovery of the empty tomb differently.

Matthew (28) and John (20) reported that Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were the first to discover the tomb. Mark (16) reports that Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome were the first to discover the empty tomb.

Mark (28) reports that there was an earthquake that removed the rock from over the tomb. He says that an angel caused it. The other gospels do not mention of an earthquake. Matthew and Mark say that only ONE man in white clothes was sitting on the tomb when the woman arrived, and that he was an angel.

Luke says that TWO men in white clothes, who were angels, were sitting. Johns says that the two women did not meet anybody the first time they came to the tomb, but when they returned, they saw TWO people, ONE was an ANGEL, and the other was JESUS.

Matthew reports that when the guards reported this to the chief priest, the chief priest paid them a large sum of
money, telling them: “You have to say that his disciples came at night and stole his body.” He claims that the soldiers took money and spread the story around and since then, the story had been circulating among the Jews until today (according to Matthew).

The other gospels do not report of any such thing.

35. Which narration now is more authentic?

36. Why is the appearance of Jesus after the crucifixion taken as a proof of his resurrection when there is an explanation that he was not dead because someone else was crucified in his place when God saved Him?

37. How did Matthew know of the claimed agreement between the soldiers and the chief priest? Can’t someone say that someone paid the women a large sum of money and told them to spread the word around that Jesus rose from the dead, with the same authenticity as that of the story of Matthew?

38. Why did they believe that man in the white clothes? Why did they believe he was an angel? John’s narration is too strange, since he says that Mary did not recognize Jesus(one of the two) while talking to him, and she only recognized him when he called her by her name.

39. How does an empty tomb prove that Jesus was crucified ? Isn’t it that God is capable of removing another man from the tomb, and of resurrecting him too?

40.The Gospels are believed to be the verbatim words of God, they are supposed to be dictated by the Holy Spirit to the Disciples who wrote them. If the source were the same, why shouldn’t they correspond with
each other in reporting such an important event?

41.How could Matthew, Mark, Luke and John be considered eyewitnesses of resurrection when the Bible implies that nobody at all saw Jesus coming out of the tomb?

BIBLE:
If the Christians consider the Old Testament as God’s Word, why did they cancel the parts of the Old Testament that dealt with punishment (example: the punishment for adultery)?

42. Why doesn’t Mark 16:9-20 exist in as many versions of the Bible while it exists as a footnote or between brackets in some other versions? Is a footnote in the Bible still considered as God’s word, especially when it
addresses an important feature like the Ascension?

43. Why does the Catholic Bible contain 73 books while the Protestant Bible has only 66? With both claiming to have the complete Word of God, which one should be believed and why?

44. Where do those new translations of the Bible keep coming from when the original Bible is not even available ? The Greek manuscripts which are translations themselves are not even similar with each other.

45.How can you take two gospels from writers who never met Jesus, like Mark and Luke?

46. Why is half of the New Testament written by a man who never even met Jesus in his lifetime? PAUL claimed with no proof that he had met Jesus while on his way from Jerusalem to Damascus. PAUL was the main enemy of Christianity. Isn’t that reason enough to question the authenticity of what he wrote? Why do the Christians call those books of the Old Testament “God’s Word” when the revisers of the RSV Bible say that some of the authors are UNKNOWN? They say that the author of SAMUEL is “UNKNOWN” and that of CHRONICLES is “UNKNOWN, PROBABLY COLLECTED AND EDITED BY EZRA”!

CONTRADICTIONS:

47. Concerning the controversial issues in the Bible, how can Christians decide by two-thirds majority what is God’s Word and what is not, as the prefaces of some Bibles say like that one of the RSV?

48.Why does Luke in his gospel report the Ascension on Easter Day, and in the Acts, in which he is recognized as the author, FORTY days later?

49.The genealogy of Jesus is mentioned in Matthew and Luke only. Matthew listed 26 forefathers from Joseph to David while Luke enumerated 41 forefathers. Only Joseph matches with Joseph in those two lists. Not a single other name matches! If these were inspired by God word by word, how could they be
different? Some claim that one is for Mary and one is for Joseph, but where does it says Mary in those two Gospels?

50.If Moses wrote the first books of the Old Testament, how could Moses write his own obituary? Moses died in the fifth book at age 120 as mentioned in Deut. 34:5-10.

51.In the King James Version, why does it report SEVEN years of famine in II SAMUEL 24:13 while it reports THREE years of famine in I CHRONICLES 21:12? Why did they change both to THREE years in the New International Version and other versions?

52.Still In the same King James Version, why does it say that Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign in II CHRONICLES 21:12, while it says EIGHTEEN years in II KINGS 24:8? Why did thessey change in both to EIGHTEEN in the new Versions?

53.In all versions, why does it say that David slew the men of SEVEN HUNDRED chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand HORSEMEN as evidenced in II Samuel 10:18 while its says SEVEN THOUSAND men which fought in chariots, and forty thousand FOOTMEN, in I CHRONICLES 19:18?

54.In all versions, why does it report TWO thousand baths in I KINGS 7:26 while II CHRONICLES 4:5 reports THREE THOUSAND?

55.In the King James version, why does it report that Solomon had FOUR THOUSAND stalls for horses in II CHRONICLES 9:25 while it accounts that Solomon had FORTY THOUSAND stalls of horses in 1 KINGS 4:26? Why did they change both to FOUR THOUSAND in the new versions?

56.In GENESIS 1, God’s creation progresses from grass to trees to fowls, whales, cattle and creeping things and finally to man and woman. GENESIS 2, however, puts the creation of man before cattle and fowl and woman
subsequent to beast. How can this be explained?

QUR’AN AND CHRISTIANS:

This section does not inquire or interrogate, but rather provides the reader with some of the Qur’anic verses that address the Christians in particular, and the people of the scripture in general. A great
portion of the Qur’an pertains to or involves the Christians and the Jews and I decided to just choose verses that are related to the topic of this manuscript.

“Lo! The likeness of Jesus with Allah is as the likeness of Adam. He created him of dust, then said unto him: Be, and he was.” Al-Qur’an 3:59.

“O People of the Scripture! Why will you argue about, when the Torah and the Gospel were revealed till
after him? Have you then no sense? Abraham was not a Jew, nor yet a Christian; but he was an man who had surrendered (to Allah), and he was not of the idolaters. Lo! Those of mankind who have the best claim to Abraham are those who followed him, and his Prophet and those who believe (with him); and Allah is the Protector of the believers. A party of the People of the Scripture longs to make you go; and they make none to go astray except themselves, but they perceive not. O People of the Scripture! Why disbelieve you in the revelations of Allah, when you (yourselves) bear witness to their truth? O People of the Scriptures! Why confound you truth with falsehood and knowingly conceal the Truth? (Al-Qur’an 3: 64-71)

And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him and in the hereafter, He will be one of the losers (Al-Qur’an 3:85).

And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, and Allah’s messenger. They slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them, and Lo! Those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain: But Allah took him up unto Himself. Allah was ever Mighty, Wise. (Al-Qur’an 4:157-158).

O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter ought concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him, so believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not “Three”! Cease! (it is ) better for you! Allah is only One God. Far is it removed from His transcendent majesty that He should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as defender. The Messiah will never scorn to be a slave unto Allah, nor will the favoured angels. Whosoever scorns His service and is proud, all such will assemble unto Him. Then, as for those who believed and did good works, unto them will He give them their wages in full, adding unto them of His bounty; and as for those who were scornful and proud, then He will punish with a painful doom.” (Al-qur’an 4:171-173).

“And with those who say Lo! We are Christians, We made a covenant, but they forgot a part of that whereof they were admonished. Therefore We have stirred up enmity and hatred among them till the Day of Resurrection, when Allah will inform them of their handiwork. O People of the Scripture! Now has our messenger come unto you, expounding unto you much of that which you used to hide in the Scripture, and forgiving much. Now has come unto light from Allah and plain scripture: Whereby Allah guides him who seeks His good pleasure unto paths of peace, He brings them out of darkness unto light by His decree, and guides them unto a Straight Path. They indeed have disbelieved who say: Lo! Allah is the messiah, son of Mary. Say: Who then can do ought against Allah if he had willed to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, and his mother and everyone on earth? allah’s is the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. He creates what he wills. And Allah is able to do all things. (Al-qur’an 5:14:17).

“They surely disbelieve who say; Lo! Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. The Messiah (himself) said: O children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and you Lord. Lo! Whosoever ascribes partners unto Allah, for him Allah has forbidden Paradise. His abode is the Fire. For evildoers ,there will be no helpers. They surely disbelieve who say: Lo! Allah is the third of the three; when there is no God save the One God. If they desist not from so saying, a painful doom will fall on those of them who disbelieve. Will they not rather turn unto Allah and seek forgiveness of Him? For Allah is oft-forgiving, most merciful. Say: Serve you in place of Allah that which possesses for you neither hurt nor use? Allah is the Hearer, the Knower. Say: O People of the Scripture! Stress not in your religion other than the Truth, and follow not the vain desire of folks who erred of old and led many astray, and erred from a plain road.” (Al-qur’an 5:72-77)

“And when Allah says: O Jesus, son of Mary: Did you say unto mankind: take me and my mother for two gods beside Allah?, he says: Be glorified! It was not mine to utter that to which I had no right. If I used to say it, then You Knew it, You know what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Your mind. Lo! You, only You, are the knower of things hidden. I spoke unto them only that which You commanded me (saying); worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. I witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when You took me, You were the Watcher over them. You are witness over all things. If You punish them, Lo! They are Your slaves, and if you forgive them (Lo! They are Your slaves). Lo! You, only you are the Mighty, the Wise. Allah says: This is a day in which their truthfulness profits the truthful, for theirs are Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they are secure forever, Allah taking pleasure in them and they in Him. That is the great triumph. (Al-qur’an 5:116-119)

“And the Jews say: ‘Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: ‘The Messiah is the son of Allah’. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah fights against them. How perverse they are! They have taken as Lord besides Allah their rabbis and their monks and the Messiah son of Mary, when they were bidden to worship only One God. There is no God save Him. Be He glorified from all that they ascribe as partners (unto him)! Faint would they put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah disdains (ought) save that He shall perfect His light, however much the disbelievers are averse. He it is Who has sent His messenger with guidance and the Religion of Truth, to cause it to prevail over all religions, however much the idolaters may be averse. O you who believe! Lo! many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks devour the wealth of mankind wantonly and debar (people) from the way of Allah. They who hoard up gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah, unto them give tidings (O Muhammad) of a painful doom. On the Day when it will (all) be heated in the fire of Hell, and their foreheads and their flanks and their backs will be branded therewith (and it will be said unto them): Here is that which you hoarded for yourselves. Now taste of what you used to hoard.” (Al-qur’an 9:30-35).

MUHAMMAD OR JESUS?

Christians claim that the prophecy in Deut. 18:18 refers to Jesus and not Muhammad. The verse says: “I will raise them up a prophet from among THEIR BRETHREN, LIKE UNTO THEE, and I will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.” The only reason they resort to such interpretation is that both Moses and Jesus were prophets. Even this one contradicts their claim that Jesus was God and not a Prophet. Many prophets of the Jews had the similarity with Moses. However, if we compare Muhammad to Moses, we will find that:

Muhammad was an Arab, and the Arabs are from Ishmael, son of Abraham, while Moses was a Jew, and the Jews are from Isaac, son of Abraham. Hence, the term THEIR BRETHREN refers to the children of the first son being brethren of the children of the other. This couldn’t apply to Jesus, since he was a Jew.

According to the Christians, Jesus went to Hell for three days while Moses did not. Therefore, Jesus is not like Moses. (In Islam, none of the three Prophets went to Hell)

Moses and Muhammad were born to fathers and mothers while Jesus was born to a mother alone.

Moses and Muhammad got married and had children, while Jesus did not marry at all.

Moses and Muhammad got problems and difficulties from their people initially, but were accepted by them at the end., whereas Jesus was rejected by his people at the start and is still rejected by the Jews until today. “He (Jesus) came unto his own, but his own received him not”. ( John 1:11)

Moses and Muhammad had power, besides being prophets. They both performed some capital punishments, for example, while Jesus had no power over his people. “My kingdom is not of this world”, Jesus said in John 18:36.

Moses and Muhammad brought new laws while Jesus did not.

Moses was forced to emigrate in adulthood to Median while Muhammad was forced to emigrate at that stage in his life too, towards Madina . Whereas Jesus did not have such forced emigration in his adulthood .

Moses and Muhammad both died of natural deaths after which they were buried ,while the same could not be said of Jesus. He was neither killed nor crucified at all, according to the Qur’an and did not die a ‘natural’
death as could be affirmed by Christians who believe in Crucifixion.

FINAL QUESTIONS:

57.Why won’t you, Christian reader, come to hear and learn of the true religion of Jesus?

58.Have you, as a Christian , learned of Islam and if so, was it from the true Muslims?

59.As a Christian, do you agree that out of fairness and honesty you must investigate what Islam says about God, Jesus, including this life and the hereafter?

60.Being a Christian, do you also believe that we must all stand accountable to our Creator and that the Creator is Perfect and Just? As a sincere believer in God, don’t you owe it upon yourself to find out the entire unadulterated truth regardless of the consequences?

We invite you to read, learn or ask information about Islam.

WAS JESUS CHRIST (PBUH) SENT TO MANKIND?

WAS JESUS CHRIST (PBUH) SENT TO MANKIND?

This is one of the tactics the Christian preachers use in converting Muslims who have petite knowledge about Islam into the doctrine of Paul. It is sometimes shocking when I see pastors and evangelist saying “you must accept Jesus as your personal lord and Saviour or else you will not enter the kingdom of heaven” as if Jesus (Pbuh) was even sent to the whole mankind. If Jesus Christ (Pbuh) was not sent to mankind then this preaching is false.

Let us quickly shed light on this topic.

Allah (S.W.T) revealed to Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) that, we have sent messengers before you to their respective people in several places in the Glorious Qur’an.

“And We have already sent messengers before you to their peoples, and they came to them with clear evidences; then We took retribution from those who committed crimes, and incumbent upon Us was support of the believers.”

Quran 30:47

The bible agrees with this verse by saying Jesus (Pbuh) will be sent to save his people.

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall SAVE HIS PEOPLE from their sins.”

Matthew 1:21

Now who are his people? Let us look at the below verses

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا عَبْدٌ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلْنَٰهُ مَثَلًۭا لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

“Jesus was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of ISRAEL.”

Quran 43:59

“Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise RAISED UNTO ISRAEL a Saviour, Jesus”

ACTS 13:23

MY CASE AGAINST YAHWEH knowislam.com.ng/2017/06/08/my-case-against-yahweh/

Now, if any Christian disagree with the above evidences that Christ is not sent to the whole world, then let ask Jesus Christ (Pbuh):

A Canaanite woman’s daughter was possessed by a demon, and she came to meet Jesus Christ for deliverance, let read the below verses

“22. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.”

But he answered and said, “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the HOUSE OF ISRAEL.”

Mathew 15:22-24

He warned his twelve disciples not to go to the gentiles and Samaritans.

5. “These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not.”

6. “But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

Matthew 10:5-6

It is crystal clear that he was not sent to the world, but to the Israelites alone.

HIS RESTRICTED MISSION

Jesus Christ (Pbuh) mission was restricted and time bond. He was only sent to the Israelite during his time, and that is why he said in the book of St john.

12. “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.”

13. “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

John 16:12-13

Note: Prophet Mohammad (SAW) is the Prophet that came after Jesus (Pbuh), and he was the last and final Messenger from Allah (God)

Jesus Christ (Pbuh) knew his message was time bond, and that is why he said in the book of john chapter 9 verse 5

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

JOHN 9:5

Above is a conditional tense that distinctly shows his mission is restricted.

Below is another verse from the glorious Qur’an

“And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, “O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad.” But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, “This is obvious magic.”

Quran 61:6

Jesus (Pbuh) answered: ” For all the Prophets, that are one hundred and forty-four thousand, whom God hath sent into the world, have spoken darkly. But after me shall come the Splendour of all the prophets and holy ones, and shall shed light upon the darkness of all that the prophets have said, because he is the messenger of God.”

Gospel of Barnabas page17: Chapter 17 paragraph 3.

May Almighty Allah guide us to the straight path. Ameen.

WHO AUTHORED THE QURAN?

0

Salam alaekum everyone.

Recently, many Christian apologists have confused themselves on the authorship of the Quran. They keep saying the third Caliph, Uthman ibn Affan, authored the Quran and burn all the Qurans people had in circulation about 1400years ago. I believe their ignorance of the words Quran and Mushaf have gone to the extent that they just attack everything they see as confusing. Have we ever even wondered that many of the so called apologists have no knowledge of the Arabic language, and the few who do do not know how to translate words to the right meanings but use their implied meanings to words.

Who authored the Quran? Someone must have produced it! After all, how many desert men have stood up in the history of man and given the world a book like the Quran? The book has amazing details of past nations, prophets, and religions as well as accurate scientific information unavailable at the time. What was the source of all this? If we were to deny the divine origin of the Quran, we are left with only a few possibilities:

– The Prophet Muhammad authored it himself.

– He took it from someone else. In this case, he either took it from a Jew or a Christian or one of the foreigners in Arabia. The Meccans did not bother to accuse him of having taken it from one of them.

Allah SWT says

And they say, “Legends of the former peoples which he has written down, and they are dictated to him morning and afternoon.Say, [O Muhammad], “It has been revealed by He who knows [every] secret within the heavens and the earth. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving and Merciful.” (Quran 25:5-6)

COULD AN ILLITERATE HAVE AUTHORED IT?

It is impossible that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) could have authored the Quran due to the following reasons:

First, several occasions presented themselves where he could have fabricated revelation. For example, after the first revelation came, people awaited to hear more, but the Prophet did not receive any revelation from Angel Jibreel for months. The Meccans began making fun of him saying ‘His Lord has abandoned him!’ This continued until the 93rd chapter, Ad-Doha, was revealed. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) could have compiled something and presented it as the latest revelation to end the mockery, but he did not. Also, at one point during his prophethood, some of the hypocrites accused his beloved wife Aisha of being unchaste. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) could have easily fabricated something to free her of blame, but he waited for many excruciating days, all spent in pain, mockery, and anguish, until revelation came from God freeing her from the accusation.

Second, there is internal evidence within the Quran that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was not its author. Several verses criticized him, and were on occasion strongly worded. How can an imposter prophet blame himself when it may run him into the danger of losing the respect, perhaps following, of his followers? Here are some examples:

“O Prophet! Why do you prohibit [yourself from] what God has made lawful for you, seeking the approval of your wives? And God is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Quran 66:1)

“…while you concealed within yourself that which God is to disclose and you feared the people, while God has more right that you fear Him..” (Quran 33:43)

“It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are companions of Hellfire.” (Quran 9:113)

“But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] while he fears [God], from him you are distracted. No! Indeed, they [these verses] are a reminder.” (Quran 80:8-11)

If he were to hide anything, he would have hid these verses, but he recited them faithfully.

“And he [Muhammad] is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. And it [the Quran] is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. So where are you going? It is nothing but a reminder to the worlds.” (Quran 81:24-27)

The Prophet is cautioned, perhaps warned, in the following verses:

“Indeed, We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth so you may judge between the people by that which God has shown you. And do not be an advocate for the deceitful. And seek forgiveness of God. Indeed, God is ever Forgiving and Merciful. And do not argue on behalf of those who deceive themselves. Indeed, God loves not the one who is a habitually sinful deceiver. They conceal [their evil intentions and deeds] from the people, but they cannot conceal [them] from God, and He is with them [in His knowledge] when they spend the night in such as He does not accept of speech. And God ever is encompassing of what they do,. Here you are – those who argue on their behalf in [this] worldly life – but who will argue with God for them on the Day of Resurrection, or who will [then] be their representative? And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself but then seeks forgiveness of God will find God Forgiving and Merciful. And whoever earns [i.e., commits] a sin only earns it against himself. And God is ever Knowing and Wise. But whoever earns an offense or a sin and then blames it on an innocent [person] has taken upon himself slander and manifest sin. And if it was not for the favor of God upon you, [O Muhammad], and His mercy, a group of them would have determined to mislead you. But they do not mislead except themselves, and they will not harm you at all. And God has revealed to you the Book and wisdom and has taught you that which you did not know. And ever has the favor of God upon you been great.” (Quran 4:105-113)

These verses explain a situation in which a man from the Muslim inhabitants of Medina stole a piece of armor and hid it in the property of his Jewish neighbor. When the owners of the armor caught up with him he denied any wrongdoing, and the armor was discovered with the Jewish man. He, however, pointed to his Muslim neighbor, also denying his involvement in the crime. The people from the Muslim’s tribe went to the Prophet to plead on his behalf, and the Prophet began to incline towards them till the above verses were revealed clearing the Jewish man of wrongdoing. All this despite the Jew’s rejection of Muhammad’s prophethood! The verses instructed Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) himself not to side with the deceitful! The verses:

“…and do not be an advocate for the deceitful and seek forgiveness of God…and if it was not for the favor of God upon you, [O Muhammad], and His mercy, a group of them would have determined to mislead you.”

If Muhammad himself authored the Quran, thus being a lying imposter, he would have made sure that there was nothing in existence which could jeopardize the gaining of followers and supporters. The fact that the Quran, on various occasions, reprimands the Prophet in certain issues in which he had made in incorrect judgment is in itself a proof that it was not authored by him.

WHAT DOES ISLAM SAY ABOUT TERRORISM ?

0

Islam, a religion of mercy, does not permit terrorism. In the Quran, God has said:
“God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers.” (Quran 60:8)

The Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, used to prohibit soldiers from killing women and children, [1] and he would advise them: “…Do not betray, do not be excessive, do not kill a newborn child.” [2] And he also said: “Whoever has killed a person having a treaty with the Muslims shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise, though its fragrance is found for a span of forty years.” [3]

Also, the Prophet Muhammad has forbidden punishment with fire. [4] He once listed murder as the second of the major sins, [5] and he even warned that on the Day of Judgment, “The first cases to be adjudicated between people on the Day of Judgment will be those of bloodshed.
[6] ”[7]

Muslims are even encouraged to be kind to animals and are forbidden to hurt them. Once the Prophet Muhammad said: “A woman was punished because she imprisoned a cat until it died. On account of this, she was doomed to Hell. While she imprisoned it, she did not give the cat food or drink, nor did she free it to eat the insects of the earth.” [8]

He also said that a man gave a very thirsty dog a drink, so God forgave his sins for this action. The Prophet, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, was asked, “Messenger of God, are we rewarded for kindness towards animals?” He said: “There is a reward for kindness to every living animal or human.” [9]

Additionally, while taking the life of an animal for food, Muslims are commanded to do so in a manner that causes the least amount of fright and suffering possible. The Prophet Muhammad said: “When you slaughter an animal, do so in the best way. One should sharpen his knife to reduce the suffering of the animal.” [10]

In light of these and other Islamic texts, the act of inciting terror in the hearts of defenseless civilians, the wholesale destruction of buildings and properties, the bombing and maiming of innocent men, women, and children are all forbidden and detestable acts according to Islam and the Muslims. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the vast majority have nothing to do with the violent events some have associated with Muslims. If an individual Muslim were to commit an act of terrorism, this person would be guilty of violating the laws of Islam.

Misconceptions about Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

0

By Rachida El Diwani

Fulbright Scholar, Chatham College

Pittsburgh PA 15232, April 2003.
I. Introduction
One could in fact say that, of the major elements of Islam, the real significance of the Prophet Muhammad is the least understood by the non-Muslims and his personality has not been often rightfully presented.
II. Reasons for the Misunderstanding
1. The fact that the message of Islam came after those of Judaism and Christianity made it unacceptable to the two preceding religions.

2. The Prophet Muhammad was generally presented as a false Prophet and an imposter – to say the least – in the Latin Christian literature and this continued in almost all the modern European ones.

3. The real personality of the Prophet as his mission and role were very different from those of Jesus who, for the Christians, was representing The Norm for the true founder of a religion. Any difference with this norm was unacceptable and rejected. These differences were obstacles to a better understanding of the personality of the Prophet.

4. The Islamic conquests of the Christianized Byzantine provinces caused an old-aged animosity with the Latin Church, which tried to fight Islam through the possible means: moral, intellectual, material, etc…

5. The Orientalists, “the experts on the Orient”, had built a strong hostile tradition about Islam and his Prophet, and this was, and still is, presented as a learned and scientific tradition, although it is more often than not based on pure personal biases and hate for Islam and its Prophet. It cannot be denied though that a small number of Orientalists tried to look at their object of study in an objective and scientific way.
III. The Divine Revelation to the Prophet Muhammad
The Prophet Muhammad received the Divine Order to call the people, once more, for the last time, to the same true religion, that’s of worshipping and submitting to the One true God, Allah in Arabic. God ordered him in the Quran: “Say, we believe in Allah,  and that which has been revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, and that which was given to Moses and Jesus, and to the Other Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit” [3:83].

The creed of Islam is summed up in the Testimony of Faith: There is no deity but God and Muhammad is His Messenger.

The Revelation the Prophet Muhammad received from God is called the Quran, which means the Reading or the Recitation. God sent down the Quran on the heart and soul of the Prophet Muhammad through the Angel Gabriel. The Revelation began in the month of Ramadan of the year 610c.e. in the cave of  Hira`, in the mountains surrounding Mecca, where the Prophet used to retreat for meditation. It continued for 22 years, until the death of the Prophet, at the age of 62, in Medina.

The Revelation was brought in clear and distinct Arabic verses “Ayaat”. They came in an intermittent manner, whenever God found it necessary to reveal how the problems, the circumstances, the needs, the important issues related to the new faith should be dealt with, or to reveal the ways of worshipping, of salvation, of preparation for death and resurrection on the Day of Judgment.

The Prophet was transmitting faithfully the Words of God to the believers, as those Words were engraved forever in his heart and memory. The companions of the Prophet were memorizing and writing down all the Revelations dictated by the Prophet. All the verses constituting the Quran were put in the order they exist now, under the instructions of Angel Gabriel who had transmitted to the Prophet the Will and the Words of God as embodied today in the Quran.

The Quran with the extraordinary beautiful meanings it contains, expressed in an extraordinary beautiful Arabic language is presented by God as being the Miracle He has given to the Prophet. The Arabic word “Ayaat”, translated by verse, means in fact a Miracle. So the Quran is made out of Miracles. When the idolaters were mocking at that kind of intellectual and linguistic miracle, and wanted more physical and material ones, God challenged them, through the verses of the Quran to make just one verse as great and as divine as those contained in the Quran. Up to this present time nobody could emulate the divine book. The diverse dimensions and meanings of the Quran testify to its divine origin.
IV. Religious and Spiritual Life of the Prophet
For Muslims, the Prophet is the perfect man and the prototype of the religious and spiritual life. This is difficult to understand for a Christian because, compared to Christ, the earthly career of the Prophet seems often too human and too engrossed in the vicissitudes of social, economic and political activities to serve as a model for the spiritual life.

The spiritual nature of the Prophet is veiled in his human one and his purely spiritual function is hidden in his duties as a guide of men and a leader of a community. The function of the Prophet was to be, not only the spiritual guide but also the organizer of a new social order with all that such a function implies. And it is precisely this aspect of his being that veils his purely spiritual dimensions from foreign eyes. It may be easy to understand his political genius, his great statesman-ship, but less easy to understand how that same leader has been the religious and spiritual guide of men and how his life could be an example for those who aspire to sanctity. This is particularly true in the modern world where religion is separated from other domains of life and most modern men can hardly imagine how a spiritual being could also be immersed in the most intense political and social activity.

In fact, in order for Christians to understand the contour of the personality of the Prophet of Islam, they should not compare him with Jesus-Christ whose message was meant primarily for saintly men and who founded a community based on monastic life which later became the norm of a whole society. Rather because of his dual function as “King” and “Prophet”, as the guide of men in this world and the hereafter, the Prophet should be compared to the Prophets-Kings of the Old Testament, to David and Solomon, and especially to Abraham himself.

This type of figure, who is at once a spiritual being and a “leader of men” has always been rare in the Christian West, especially in modern times. Political life has become so divorced from spiritual principles that, to many people, such a function itself appears an impossibility in proof of which Westerners often point to the purely spiritual life of Christ who said “My kingdom is not of this World”.

The figure of the Prophet is thus difficult for many Occidentals to understand and this misconception, to which often bad intention has been added, is responsible for the nearly total ignorance of his true nature in most works written on him in the West.
V. The Active Life of the Prophet
The Prophet did participate in social life in its fullest sense. He married, had a household, was a father and moreover he was a ruler and a judge, and had to fight many wars in which he underwent painful ordeals. He had to undergo many hardships and experienced all the difficulties which human life, especially that of the founder of a new state and society implies. But with all these activities, his heart rested in contentment with the Divine, and he continued inwardly to repose in the Divine peace.

In fact, his participation in social and political life was precisely to integrate these domains into a spiritual center.

The Prophet entertained no personal political or worldly ambition whatsoever. He was by nature a contemplative. Before being chosen as Prophet, he did not like to frequent social gatherings and activities. He used to lead a caravan from Mecca to Syria passing through the majestic silence of the desert whose very “infinity” induced men towards contemplation. He often spent long periods in the cave of Hira`, in the mountains surrounding Mecca, in solitude and meditation.

He was  by nature neither a man of  the world nor one who was naturally inclined to seek political power among the Quraysh or social eminence in the Meccan society, although he came from the noblest family. It was in fact very painful and difficult for him to accept the burden of prophecy that implied the founding of not only a new religion but also a new social and political order. All the traditional sources testify to the great hardship the Prophet underwent by being chosen to participate in the active life in its most acute form.
VI. The Combativeness of the Prophet
The Prophet possessed a quality of combativeness, of always being actively engaged in combat against all that negated the Truth and disrupted harmony and equilibrium. Inwardly, this combativeness meant a continuous struggle against the carnal soul, against all that in man tends toward the negation of God and His Will. Outwardly, this combativeness meant fighting wars, either military, political or social wars, the war that the Prophet named the “little Jihad”, by opposition to the “Greater Jihad” which is the internal struggle.

The Prophet believed that if his religion is to be an integral part of life, he must try to establish peace in the most profound sense, namely to establish equilibrium between all the existing forces that surrounded him and to overcome all the forces that tended to destroy this equilibrium.

Thus the wars undergone by the Prophet were never aiming to oblige anyone to embrace Islam. The Quran stated the rule of: “There is no compulsion in religion” [2:256], and emphasized the fact that a person’s belief in Islam or his rejection to believe is a matter that depends upon man’s free will and his sincere conviction. This is stated in hundred of verses like: “Let him who will, believe, and let him who will, reject it” [18:129].

The Quran precised the way to be used to invite people to Islam, and it was not war. The Quran says to the Prophet: “Invite to the way of your God with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious” [16:125].

So why wars? The Prophet went on to war only when he was obliged to do so against those who were threatening the existence of the newly born community in Medina. He tried to have peace with everybody, with the Meccans, the Arab tribes, the Jews, etc… and when these people were not honoring their pacts concluded with the Muslims, the Prophet went on to war. He did so to protect his community and to allow the people to worship God freely, without oppression or fear.

Let me quote Michael the Elder, Jacobite Patriarch of Antioch (in old Syria), writing in the latter half of the twelfth century and approving the welcoming attitude of his ancestors at the advent of the Islamic armies in the seventh century and seeing the finger of God in the Arab conquests, even after the Eastern Churches had had five centuries of experience with the Islamic rule. After recounting the persecutions carried on by Heraclius against his coreligionists, Michael the Elder wrote: “This is why the God of vengeance – who alone is All-Powerful and changes the empires of mortals as He will, giving it to whomsoever He will, and uplifting the Humble-beholding the wickedness of the Romans, who, throughout their dominions, cruelly plundered our churches and our monasteries and condemned us without pity – brought from the region of the south the sons of Ishmael, to deliver us through them from the hands of the Romans… It was no slight advantage for us to be delivered from the cruelty of the Romans, their wickedness, their wrath and cruel zeal against us, and to find ourselves at peace”. (Quoted by T.W. Arnold in Preaching of Islam, Dwarf Publishers LTD, London, 1986, pp. 54-56).

This testimony of a Christian patriarch shows that Islam was not spread by the sword. But the sword of Islam abolished the oppression of the powerful and the persecutions they were carrying on against the worshipers of God, be they Christians, Jews or Muslims.
VII. The Prophet and his Enemies
The Prophet had also been criticized by non-Muslim authors for having treated some of his enemies harshly. These critics have forgotten that either a religion leaves the world aside, as Christ did, or integrates the world, in which case it must deal with such questions as war, retribution, justice, etc…

When Charlemagne, or some other Christian king, thrust a sword into the breast of a heathen soldier, he was, from the individual point of view, being cruel to that soldier, but on the universal plane, this was a necessity for the preservation of the Christian civilization that had to defend its border or perish.

The Prophet exercised the utmost kindness possible and was harsh only with traitors. Now, a traitor against a newly founded religious community, which God has willed and whose existence is a mercy from Heaven to mankind, is a traitor against the Truth itself. What appears to some as the cruelty of the Prophet against some idolaters or some Jewish tribes of Medina is precisely that aspect of his function as the instrument of God for the establishment of a new world order which had to be purified from the traitors to the pacts concluded with them to insure the security of the new community in Medina. Those who were collaborating with the enemies and not honoring their promises with the Muslims had to be punished, banned or executed. Any fifth column in the world today would be dealt with in the same manner.

Otherwise, the Prophet was always the epitome of kindness and generosity. Nowhere are the nobility and generosity of the Prophet better exemplified than in his triumphant entry to Mecca, ten years after his hijrah or immigration to Medina, with his companions. There, at a moment when the very people who had caused untold hardships and trials for the Prophet, were completely subdued by him, instead of thinking of vengeance, which was certainly his due, he forgave them. One must know the almost unimaginable obstacles placed before the Prophet by the same people, of the immense suffering he and his new community had undergone because of them, over 20 years, to realize what degree of generosity this act of the Prophet implied.

What directed the life of the Prophet was his love for God, which in conformity with the general perspective of Islam, was never divorced from knowledge of Him and perfect surrender to His Will. A well-known tradition “hadith” reports one of the Prophet’s supplications to God: “O Lord, grant to me the love of Thee. Grant that I love those who love Thee. Grant that I may do the deeds that win thy love. Make Thy love dearer to me than self, family and wealth”.
VIII. The Marriages of the Prophet
The multiple marriages of the Prophet, in the tradition of the Biblical Prophets and of the customs of the region, were not signs of his lenience vis-à-vis the flesh. Let me quote the noted British author Parrinder (in Mysticism in the World’s Religions, New York, Oxford University Press, 1976, p. 161), he said: “No great religions leader has been so maligned as Muhammad. Attacked in the past as a heretic, an imposter, or a sensualist, it is still possible to find him referred to as “the false prophet”. A modern German writer accuses Muhammad of sensuality, surrounding himself with young women. This man was not married until he was twenty-five years of age. Then he and his wife (of forty years old) lived in happiness and fidelity for twenty-four years, until her death when he was forty-nine. Only between the age of fifty and his death at sixty two did Muhammad take other wives, only one of whom was a virgin, and most of them were taken for dynastic and political reasons (cited by J. Esposito, in Islam, the Straight Path, New York, Oxford University Press, 1991, p.18).

Multiple marriages, for him, were not so much enjoyments as responsibility and means of integration of the newly founded society. Besides, in Islam, the whole problem of sexuality appears in a different light from that in Christianity. Sexuality is sacred in Islam and is integrated to the equilibrium of life Islam seeks for the human being. That is why it should not be judged by Christian standards. The marriages of the Prophet symbolize his patriarchal nature and his function, not as a saint who withdraws from the world, but as one who sanctifies the very life of the world by living it and accepting it with the aim of integrating it into a higher order of reality.
IX. Conclusion
For the Muslims, the Prophet represents the human equilibrium that has become extinct in the Divine Truth. He marks the establishment of Harmony and Equilibrium between all the tendencies present in man: the sensual, social, economic, political tendencies that cannot be overcome unless the human state itself is transcended. His spiritual way means to accept the human condition that is normalized and sanctified as the foundation for the loftiest spiritual castle. The Prophet represents the spirituality of Islam, which is not the rejection of the world but the transcending of it through its integration into a center and the establishment of a harmony upon which the quest for the Absolute is based.

Refuting the Non Muslim misconception of the word "jihad"

0

A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE
(Refuting the wrong perception of the word “JIHAD” to the Non muslims and against ascribing the whole Muslim community as terrorist)
The Bible said In Hosea 4:6 that my people(christians) are destroyed due to the lack of knowledge. After Reading this , I believe many will go back to study Islam not Muslims.
The word Jihad which is now misunderstood by the Non Muslims, means to strive or struggle, never mean fighting or killing. Let me give you an example , when you read hard day and Night to pass your exams .That struggle and all the striving you are doing to make sure you pass that your exam is called JIHAD in Arabic. That is working hard or struggling or striving, when one strive to give his Son good moral upbringing is also Jihad, but never mean any holy war, The term Holy War that the person refered to as Jihad, its obviously wrong , rather the word Holy war in Arabic is termed “HARBUN MUKADDASA” which is no where to be found in the Quran or any thing of my Noble prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H)
Jihad never means to fight anybody, I can see the word the Christian brother used was Holy war which he also said means Jihad ,that is to fight the Non Muslins for the sake of Allah. That is totally wrong perception and I believe after reading this short Writeup , the misconceptions will be cleared away.
This is not a fight or a debate but just to Let you know that we Muslims are wise and all the moves done by the media to tarnish the image of Islam will never be successful. In one of your paragraphs you said Allah commands to kill the christians while your Jesus tells you to Love everybody, Im telling you now that Jesus was never your own and will never be your own, Jesus was never a Christian but a Muslim, because Jesus Christ submit Him self to the Almighty God and he believes in Almighty God alone not 3 in 1, (Mark 12:29, Deutronomy 6:4, Luke 4:8,John 5:30), Jesus said you should love everybody, but you shouldn’t be quoting short verses, if you are talking of your peaceful side why not dropping verses like Exodus 2:20, Deutronomy 13:12-19, 1st Samuel 13:1)
The Quran never tells anyone to kill anybody, Infact the right to Religion that the Quran gave to People is no were to be found in order religious Books. The Quran said in Chapter 6 verse 108 “And do not insult those they invoke other than AllOEh” Also the Quran makes it clear in Quran chapter 5 verse 32 “Who ever kills a soul ,its as if he has killed the whole of man kind and also who ever save a soul it is as if he has save the whole of Mankind” further More the Quran gives the right to religion in Quran chapter 109 verse 6 “For you is your religion, and for me is my religion” Also in Quran chapter 2 verse 256 it says “No compulsion in Religion” in summary of the above paragraph ISLAM DID NOT TEACH ANYONE TO KILL ANYBODY, AND ALSO ISLAMS CONDEMNS ALL SORT OF TERRORISM. IF YOU SEE ANYBODY GOING AGAINST THE ABOVE VERSES( BY KILLING OR BY FORCING ONE TO FOLLOW A RELIGION OR BY INSULTING SOMEONE THAT FOLLOW A PARTICULAR RELIGION) IS NOT A GOOD MUSLIM AND DON’T KNOW WHAT ISLAM IS ALL ABOUT.
We are all aware that in every community there are black sheep, what the media do is to pick the activities of the black sheep of the Muslim community and ascribe it to the whole Muslims in general which is totally not fair to us the Muslims.
I wonder how the Christian brother think that the Muslims were asked to kill for the sake of Allah and im pretty sure the Environment that me and Him are in now, have a greater percentage of Muslims than the Christians, because Islam is the world fastest Growing Religion in the World with Millions of followers everyday, So my brother should think it in these way , If my Religion Islam commands Me to kill the Non Muslims, Did the Christian brother think he will be alive by now to wrote this thing he wrote against Islam,
Allah never says Kill the innocent and go to heaven rather Allah says Who ever killed the innocent it is as if he has killed the whole nation and he is going to Hell as a reward for his bad deeds. Just Imagine, How Sweet and freedom wise these statements are.
In Refuting your second to the Last paragraph that you said you exposed the naked truth about the Evil in Muslims belief, All I did was to laugh because you did not expose anything because there was nothing bad to expose in Islam, and as you can see Everyday the thousands of People running away from your faith and coming to my own, why because they have seen the light and the peace in it. You also said it already that the Religion is growing day by day, How do you think Thousands of People will leave your own which is peaceful and come to my own which is EVIL.
All I urge you is to seek and study the Islam religion not to stay from a far distance and portraying Islam, Even your Bible says you are destroyed due to the lack of Knowledge (Hosea 4:6)
I do wonder when the issue of the crisis in the north east Nigeria arise,we the Muslims are being killed and displaced and a Christian that is not affected in anyway will be saying that they are affecting him, Actually im just wondering . Why not do the analysis of the crisis and bring forth the result lets see who are affected most. Boko Haram are depopulating the Muslims not the Christians , go to the IDPs and be a witness, but that doesn’t stop the Religion from growing.
