NEW BOOK READING ON KNOWISLAM.COM.NG
As-salaam ‘alaykum WarahmatuLLAHI Wabarakatuhu,
Some weeks ago, we finished daily reading of two books, “Misgoded by Dr. Lawrence Brown and Kitab At-Tauhid by Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdulwahab”. We started this daily book reading to improve our reading culture, bringing the books we need to read closer to us and making best use of the internet.
We came up with the idea to read two books, one on comparative religion and the other on Tawheed. With the rate Bible Thumpers, Evangelists, Christian apologists continue to deceive and mislead people, we think it is important that all Muslims should be able to at least, defend themselves intellectually against the never-stopping Evangelists. Also, our choice of brining books on Tawheed closer to us is to sensitize us against most of our religious shenanigans and enlighten us about the liberation a proper understanding of the concept of Tawheed brings.
It is part of our shenanigans to ask people to stand for prayer, when we don’t even have to stand up when the Adhan is being called. Many of us must have seen fellow Muslims closing their eyes for prayers, running to Sheikhs when challenges arise, seeking help from other than Allah etc. Things like these are what we intend to curb with our daily book reading and this does rule out the necessity of learning from a teacher on the Qur’an and Sunnah.
In Shaa Allah, we will start another book reading on comparative religion. We are reading, “Izharu-haqq” by Sheikh Rahmatullah Kairanvi. Here is a short description of the book;
“This book, internationally recognized as one of the most authoritative and objective studies of the Bible, was originally written in Arabic under the title Izharul-Haq (Truth Revealed) by the distinguished 19th century Indian scholar, Rahmatullah Kairanvi, and appeared in 1864. The book was subsequently
translated into Urdu, and then from Urdu into English by Mohammad Wali Raazi
The book was written against the Christian offensive against Islam in British India. The book is divided into three parts;
The Books of the Bible
Contradictions and Errors in the Biblical Text
Distortion and Abrogation in the Bible
The Trinity Refuted
Proof of the Divine Origin of the Qur’an and
the Authenticity of the Hadiths
These are topics in the first part of the book;
The Books of the Bible 1-1
The First Division of the Old Testament 1-1
The Second Division of the Old Testament 1-7
The Books of the New Testament 1-8
The First Division of the New Testament 1-8
The Second Division of the New Testament 1-11
Review of the Books by the Councils 1-12
The Books Rejected by the Protestants 1-13
The Absence of Certainty in the Bible 1-14
The Present Pentateuch is not the Book of Moses 1-15
Errors in Calculation of the Israelites’ Number 1-21
The Status of the Book of Joshua 1-23
The Status of the Book of Judges 1-24
The Book of Ruth 1-25
The Book of Nehemiah 1-25
The Book of Job 1-25
The Psalm of David 1-26
The Book of Proverbs 1-27
The Book of Ecclesiastes 1-28
The Book of Songs of Solomon 1-29
The Book of Daniel 1-29
The Book of Esther 1-29
The Book of Jeremiah 1-30
The Book of Isaiah 1-30
The New Testament and the Status of the Four Gospels 1-31
The Inauthenticity of the Gospel of John 1-32
The Epistles and the Revelation
Commenting on the book,
Christine Schirrmacher describes the book saying:
“’The Demonstration of the Truth’ (izhâr al-haqq) served as a summary of all possible charges against Christianity and was therefore used after al-Kairânawî’s death as a sort of encyclopaedia since al-Kairânawî extended the material of former polemicists like ‘Ali Tabarî, Ibn Hazm or Ibn Taymiyya to a great extent.”
Though it is a Comparative analysis of Islam and Christianity, the last chapter also proves the authenticity of hadeeths for those who despise hadeeths and call compilers of hadeeths names.
Anyone interested in comparative religion should get a copy of the book. Sheikh Ahmed Deedat benefited a lot from it.
In Shaa Allah, we will pick up another book on Tawheed. You can suggest books by sending the name to email@example.com.
