This treatise is designed to put the notion of the materialist on marriage aright, and before their delusion on mankind generation leads to many heedless minds degeneracy.

Materialist View of Marriage

Materialism is a form of belief that emanate from the devil, with the notion that; ‘money is the most important resources’ in the life of mankind. To the materialist; the more wealth you earn, the higher your rank in the society.

For the materialist, as much as the activities engaged in assure money rise and acquisition of property, the ends justify the means. And whether the means is permissible or not, is not within the conscious mind of the materialist.

Marriage in an Islamic Settings

Marriage is a Divine recommendation and also a way of empowering and employing the women in engaging in their household roles. With this employment scheme the capable and able Muslim men are allowed to marry more wives, as the techniques in solving the present ratio of disparity between males and females, as it has being put into consideration by the Creator.

So for the disparity of more women to men to be alleviated, it’s important that the capable and able men fulfil their rights of marrying more (righteous) wives, inasmuch as justice is maintained in dealing with the wives.

In marriage, it is the nature of men to be the breadwinners of their family. Women in their marital duties are by nature: the active maintainers of the households; available to nurture the children and also educate them on good character and religious standards. Hence, the great task the righteous women perform at home serves as the bedrock in building the righteous leaders and managers of the economy, who will foster growth and development in the Nation.

Muslims would rather prefer their daughters or sisters to be married as supporting wives in a practical Muslim home than leave their gem to be stranded and aging without righteous spouse.

Many of those who are not able to get independent men as their spouses would later join the band of the women who practice promiscuity as their means of daily bread or those who feel the bitterness of single life. All Praise and Thanks belong to the Almighty Creator who enjoin marriage as parts of the obligations and recommendations of Islamic lifestyle.

How the Materialist got Marriage Wrong

For the conscious Muslims, materialism is never a requisite for marriage. As it is certain that, if the prospect spouse already have a means of daily bread, with their viable career plan and marriage plan; their sustenance is guaranted. This is because, the All-Bestower and the Most Generous promised to enrich and save those who sincerely follow the Divine Plan.

What you need do to be happily married with your available means is to take marital responsibilities and try to be just as much as you are capable.. If you do this, you will never regret yure because marriage is a sure source of prosperity for the conscious Muslims who seek marriage with purified intention.

It is worth noting that; justice is the basic requirements for those that intended marrying more than one wife. Marrying more than one wife is not just practising the Sunnah as some people may have it in their conviction. Sunnah in itself is the practical guidelines on the injunctions of the Almighty Creator:

…Marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice.” [Surah An-Nisa, 4:3]

“…Marry women of your choice, two or three or four…”. This is an obvious declaration of Allah, that doesn’t need any argument for the divine right granted to man on marrying more. It is a right that need no grant from the other party before this right is fulfilled.
Those who are hinging on Sunnah for marrying more wives should try go back to the first Divine codes of conduct (Qur’ān) for mankind lifestyle, and try mend their intention of marrying more wives.

….but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one…”.
The Qur’ān as a reminder put a standard to everything the believers do in life, such that believers do not go beyond limit and fall into extreme in their desires in life. Marriage as the bedrock of the society also takes rigorous steps in fulfilling, to make the marital affairs work well.
These rigorous steps is part of the check and balance between mankind desire for marriage on lust and the fulfilment of their purpose of creation on earth. Hence, the standards laid in the Qur’ān and Sunnah.

Justice as one of the basics for marrying more wives should be seriously considered before stepping into the decision of marrying more wives. As such one should marry for necessity, not to fulfill excessive desire or to cause harm to the households that is already filled with; love, mercy, and tranquility. If at all there is a need for you to marry more wive, ensure you purify your intention and check if your decision of marrying another wife is just to the treatment of the woman of virtue already in your household. Remember, not egoistic action, but righteous action win the race in life.

“Wealth and children are (but) adornment of the worldly life. But the righteous deeds, that last, are better with your Lord for reward and better in respect of hope.” [Surah Al-Kahf 18:46]
