Luke 22:36-38 By Bashir Lucas Samson Lukman
It is very funny as well as pathetic the way Christians tend to twist the bible and end up giving themselves headache. according to the gospel of Luke 22:36-38;
36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
Jesus ordered his disciples to sell their garments if they have no sword, the sword were later presented to him. Different christian with different holy spirit give the verses different interpretations. Many claim the sword as used in those verses does not mean a literal sword but a word of God.
Funny enough, a disciple of Jesus cut off one of the soldiers ear with a sword…erhm erhm, no, with a word of God. You may wonder how a word of God is sharp enough to cut off someone’s ear except it is a sword in actual sense. The disciples had words at the command of Jesus who was making defensive plans against his enemies. There is no way Peter could have held a sword without Jesus knowing, he must have at a point in time seen him with it. It may baffle someone as to why Jesus cautioned Paul that anyone who kills by the sword shall be killed by the sword. This gets more interesting, was Jesus saying anyone who kills with word of God shall die by word of God?
Jesus was a good planner and strategist as we can see how he refused to walk in Judea to avoid being killed to his prayer in the garden of Gethsemane. The disciples had few swords, Jesus, seeing how armed and dangerous the Roman soldiers looked like, he knew few swords would do nothing. So, to be on a safer side, he needs caution peter.
One can imagine the confused look peter might have worn. He would be like, ‘if anyone who kills by sword shall die by sword, why ask us to get swords?
They accuse Muslims of twisting their scriptures when in reality, they are the twisters.
